Hello, I'm Rose-Marie, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Life can be stressful at times and it can be hard to cope with the everyday changes and curve balls thrown at you. Sometimes we don't think about the importance of our mental health. We struggle with adjusting to the changes life sends our way and may end up becoming anxious or depressed. In today's busy world we find ourselves playing multiple roles that require a lot of our time. We may even find it hard to communicate our feelings, emotions, wants and needs in our various relationships. As a result we may neglect to take care of ourselves or may focus more on one of our roles while neglecting the others. As a working mother of two, I totally get this and I am passionate about helping other parents navigate these demands. I can help you explore and find ways to cope. I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help address the thoughts that led to depression and increased persistent anxiety. I also use Solution Focused Therapy to look at what worked and how to do more of it. The great thing is that you took the first step by seeking a therapist. This can be scary, but I believe in creating an open and safe environment for you to share issues and feelings without feeling judged. I work with you at a pace you feel comfortable with while building the therapeutic relationship.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we’ll take a little time to get oriented and make sure you feel comfortable. I’ll go over some guidelines for therapy, including privacy and confidentiality, as well as my practice policies such as cancellation and rescheduling. We’ll also do a brief mental status check-in, and then I’ll spend time learning about you and what brought you to therapy. I’ll share the models of therapy I use, and together we’ll explore whether it feels like a good fit. From there, we’ll identify your goals for our work and schedule a follow-up session.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Managing anxiety is one of my areas of expertise, in addition to parenting skills and self care. I love working with individuals who are seeking a better understanding of themselves and wanting to improve their outlook on life. Being able to interact with others, set healthy boundaries and communicate our feelings is extremely important in maintaining our mental health. This is a skill I can help you to hone.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are individuals who may be navigating depression or anxiety, parents working to balance the demands of family, career, and self-care, and those who are curious about their values and what they want in their relationships. They may be seeking clarity, stability, and emotional support as they explore who they are and where they want to go. These clients are interested in setting meaningful life goals and are motivated to take steps toward positive change, even if they’re not sure how to begin.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support clients in understanding the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and actions. In our sessions, I guide clients in exploring how their thought patterns influence their emotions and behaviors. Together, we work on reframing unhelpful thoughts to create more balanced perspectives, which in turn can lead to healthier emotional responses and actions. I also help clients identify and challenge irrational beliefs, empowering them to develop more constructive ways of thinking and coping.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I also incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build practical skills for managing difficult emotions and improving relationships. Through DBT, clients learn distress tolerance techniques to navigate overwhelming situations without becoming reactive, as well as mindfulness strategies to stay grounded in the present moment. I also teach interpersonal effectiveness skills, which support healthier communication, stronger boundaries, and more balanced relationships. These tools empower clients to handle challenges with greater resilience and confidence.

Narrative

I draw from Narrative Therapy to help clients explore the stories they hold about themselves, especially those shaped by trauma or painful experiences. Together, we work to separate the person from the problem, making space for new perspectives and alternative narratives that highlight strengths, resilience, and values. This approach empowers clients to reclaim their voices, reframe the impact of trauma, and create healthier, more hopeful stories about their lives and identities.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I also use Solution-Focused Therapy to support clients in identifying their strengths and envisioning a future beyond the challenges they face, including those rooted in trauma. Rather than dwelling on problems, we focus on building practical steps and strategies that move clients toward their preferred outcomes. By highlighting successes, resilience, and resources, clients gain confidence in their ability to heal, create change, and take meaningful action toward a more fulfilling life.
