New to Grow
Hi, I’m Dr. Brittany Cousins, DMFT, LMFT, and I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can finally exhale. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, relationship stress, life transitions, identity exploration, and the pressure of trying to “have it all together.” As both a therapist and a mom, I understand how easy it can be to pour into everyone else while neglecting yourself in the process. My approach is collaborative, reflective, and grounded in authenticity, with room for laughter, honesty, hard conversations, and meaningful growth. Together, we’ll work toward helping you feel more connected to yourself, your relationships, and the life you want to create.
The first session is about building connection and helping you feel comfortable. We’ll spend time getting to know your story, current challenges, and what you’re hoping for, without pressure to have everything figured out. I focus on creating a warm, supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and at ease. Together, we’ll begin identifying goals and focus areas, so you leave feeling supported and grounded in what comes next.
What stands out about my approach is the balance between compassion, insight, and practical change. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe enough to be honest, challenged enough to grow, and supported enough to not feel alone in the process. My style is warm, relational, and collaborative, while also helping clients build concrete tools they can apply outside of sessions. I often help clients uncover patterns rooted in relationships, family dynamics, culture, and personal expectations — especially for those who feel pressure to always be “strong” for others. Clients often share that they appreciate my ability to make therapy feel both grounding and empowering, while helping them move toward healthier relationships, emotional clarity, and a more authentic version of themselves.
I am best positioned to support individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, stress, self-esteem concerns, and identity exploration. I especially enjoy working with high-achieving women, young professionals, caregivers, and individuals who often feel pressure to “hold it all together” while struggling silently beneath the surface. My approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally sensitive, creating space for clients to feel seen, understood, and supported without judgment. I also have experience working with court-involved families, complex family dynamics, and clients seeking to improve communication, emotional connection, and relational healing. I work well with clients who are open to reflection, growth, and developing healthier ways of coping, communicating, and showing up for themselves and their relationships. For those who desire it, I can also integrate faith and spirituality into the therapeutic process.
Narrative
Narrative Therapy allows clients to explore the stories they have developed about themselves and their experiences. I help clients separate themselves from problems, identify strengths, and begin rewriting narratives in ways that feel more empowering, authentic, and healing.
Faith based therapy
For clients who desire it, I incorporate faith and spirituality into the therapeutic process in a way that feels supportive and respectful. This may include exploring values, prayer, scripture, or spiritual reflection to help clients find comfort, meaning, and guidance alongside evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and develop healthier coping strategies. Together, we work on practical tools to manage stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, and life transitions.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing to support clients who may feel stuck, uncertain, or conflicted about change. Through a collaborative and nonjudgmental approach, I help clients explore their goals, strengthen motivation, and build confidence in making meaningful changes in their lives.
