I received a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Florida and have 10 + years’ experience as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Most of my experience is dealing with women’s issues and how voice is found in a paternalistic society. I use a Family Systems lens as we bring our family with us even when we come as individuals. In my work with clients, I create a space of openness and acceptance as to what is present in the client’s life. I believe that clients have an innate ability to create healing for themselves, and I shepherd that process. I use a Mindfulness-Based Awareness practice and a participatory approach - to create solutions. As a client commits themselves to the process, they can expect increased awareness and see themselves and their issues more clearly. This awareness oftentimes brings with it a heightened ability to solve issues that are creating roadblocks.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and I create a compassionate space for women, teens, and young adults who are ready to heal, grow, and rediscover their identity. Many of my clients are high-functioning, faith-filled, and deeply tired — carrying the weight of life transitions, unhealed wounds, and emotional overwhelm. Using evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Strengths-Based, and Solution-Focused modalities, I help my clients explore what’s holding them back and move toward a life of clarity, peace, and purpose.

Hi, my name is Mat Kaneshiro. I am a dual-licensed marriage and family therapist working in Florida and Hawaii. I’ve worked in the community, home visits, homeless or crisis shelters, substance abuse treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals, incarceration and any other setting. I have also worked with behavioral health organizations, leading teams and managing programs. My clients grow or heal by addressing emotions, reducing anxious thoughts and feelings in their bodies. Working through relationship issues through communication, conflict resolution and other factors that shape our experience. In trauma work, I find EMDR ( eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) to be the most powerful therapy to heal core issues.

I’m Dr. Maria Mejia, a licensed therapist who works with individuals who feel overwhelmed by life, stress, and the constant pressure to “hold it all together.” Many of the clients I support are millennial parents and young adults who are navigating major life transitions while trying not to lose themselves in the process. My work is rooted in a trauma-informed, holistic approach that honors the mind, body, and nervous system. I believe symptoms like anxiety, burnout, emotional exhaustion, or feeling disconnected are not personal failures—they’re signals that something within you needs care, support, and understanding. I specialize in helping millennial parents manage stress, identity shifts, and emotional overload while parenting in a fast-paced, demanding world. I also work closely with young adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to navigate adulthood, relationships, and expectations. Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. I strive to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and supported—while also gaining tools to feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself. My goal is not just symptom relief, but helping you build a life that feels more aligned, sustainable, and authentic.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about me. Whether you are exploring therapy for yourself or as a couple, for the first time or returning to it, let us acknowledge the courage and humility it takes to seek support outside of yourself - a powerful step toward healing, growth, and change. You may be navigating stress, loss, disconnection, conflict, anger, depression, anxiety, a difficult event, or living with trauma. You may already have insight into your challenges and are looking for the right support to nudge you forward. You are here. I have been a mental health service provider since 2004, after earning my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Central Florida. I'm currently pursuing a doctorate in Conflict Analysis and Resolution at Nova Southeastern University, where my research focuses on relational resonance, relationships, and reconciliation in conflict resolution. My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and grounded in evidence-based practices, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral, Acceptance & Commitment, Mindfulness, Interpersonal, Humanistic and Client-Centered, Psychodynamic therapeutic modalities, among others. While theory and technique are crucial, I believe the heart of therapy lies in genuine human connection. I sit with you. I listen to understand your unique lived experiences. I support you. Through questioning, you are guided to the answers you seek; with your permission, I offer different perspectives and encouragement as you do the meaningful work of change. We build a therapeutic relationship rooted in trust, honesty, and collaboration. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your path to greater well-being.

There’s no denying that life isn’t always a walk in the park. While I’m sure you can relate to this as an adult, the same goes for kids, teens, and college-age students. Don’t forget, they’re going through this life without a manual, just as you are. But life is also spectacularly beautiful. Unfortunately, the trials faced during any phase of life can often dim that beauty and hold your child back from living the life they deserve. Anxiety, depression, and self-doubt can creep into anyone's life at any age. Mental health challenges can rob them of happiness, self-confidence, and life-fulfillment. I get it. I’ve been in their shoes. As an experienced, understanding, and caring counselor for teens, children, and young adults. I can help support your child, whether they are elementary-school-aged, in the turbulent teenage years, or college-aged. And, because I value being an advocate for kids and an ally for parents, I can support you, too.

Please send a message after you book an appointment if you need a specific time or a consultation call.*** I'm a bilingual licensed psychotherapist (LMHC) based in Miami, originally from Puerto Rico. I provide individual therapy in both English and Spanish, creating a space where you don’t have to explain your culture, your identity or why you feel like you don’t quite fit in. I earned my Master’s in Psychology from Albizu University and my Bachelor’s degree back home in San Juan, Puerto Rico, shaping my ability to blend cultural understanding with evidence-based care. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, grief, identity struggles, relationship challenges, and the unique experiences of the LGBTQ+ community. My style is warm, honest, and a little humorous when it helps. If you’ve ever felt misunderstood, emotionally drained, or stuck in survival mode, you’re not alone. I believe some pain doesn’t come with a lesson and that’s totally fine. Healing is still possible, even in the darkest moments, not because we need to erase the pain, but because we learn to sit with it, honor it, and grow from it only when we’re ready!

I believe that one of the most important parts of therapy is the relationship you have with your therapist. Feeling safe, understood, and supported makes real healing possible. I work with young adults healing from childhood trauma and PTSD, and with individuals navigating major life changes related to medical conditions or aging. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence based practices to help you better understand yourself, build resilience, and regain a sense of control. Therapy isn’t about “just getting over it.” It’s about making sense of your experiences and learning how to move forward in a way that feels right for you. Motherhood is a profound journey marked by both beauty and upheaval. Whether your path to this moment has been long-anticipated or unexpected, the transition into motherhood often brings a whirlwind of emotions. Anxiety and depression during pregnancy and the postpartum period are more common than many realize, with maternal depression being the leading complication of childbirth. The shift from your pre-motherhood identity to caring for a newborn can be one of the toughest transitions you’ll ever experience. As a dedicated mental health professional, I am passionate about supporting individuals through some of life's most significant and challenging transitions. I offer various approaches, including talk therapy, art therapy, mindfulness and meditation practices, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). These methods are designed to help you express your feelings, redefine your identity, and find a sense of balance and well-being in this new chapter of your life.

My path to becoming your therapist is somewhat unique compared to others in the field. Over the years, I have built a diverse professional background that began with a career in sales. I then transitioned into the Long-Term Care Industry, where I served as both an Admissions and Marketing Director and a Director of Social Services. In addition to these roles, I have been actively involved in my community, working as an HIV/AIDS Intervention Specialist and a Substance Abuse Counselor. For a decade, I also had the privilege of serving as a Licensed Pastor. On a personal level, my life has been enriched by becoming a husband, a father, and more recently, a grandfather. Throughout my journey, I have experienced many of life’s joys and victories. At the same time, I have learned valuable lessons from self-inflicted setbacks and from dealing with the consequences of choices that cannot be changed.

Hello, friends. Are you emotionally exhausted due to ongoing conflicts in life? Moreover, are you utterly overwhelmed while trying to secure a meaningful connection with family or loved ones? If so, you are not alone. Several children maintain the notion that "parents just don't understand." Conversely, many parents believe their children are mentally and emotionally disconnected from family. If this sounds like your case. . .I am extending my "virtual" hand. Let us work together to overcome issues that have long stopped you and your family from being happy, healthy, and whole. My name is Dr. Austin, LCSW, and I assist children and families in their efforts to create a communal living environment where families thrive, not merely survive. I believe in establishing a safe, judgment-free therapeutic setting where all are treated with unconditional positive regard.

I work with individuals who want to feel more confident, grounded, and fulfilled in their lives. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling anxious, stuck, or unsure of how to cope with ongoing stress, relationship struggles, or self-doubt. They’re often caring and capable people who appear to have it together on the outside but feel overwhelmed or disconnected on the inside. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore what’s getting in the way of feeling your best. Together, we’ll work on building coping tools, improving self-esteem, and creating more balanced, authentic relationships. I take a collaborative approach—one that combines compassion with practical strategies—to help you better understand your emotions, break unhelpful patterns, and make lasting change. Therapy with me often involves strengthening emotional awareness, identifying core beliefs, and learning new ways to respond to challenges. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or simply feeling “not enough,” our work focuses on helping you reconnect with your sense of worth and agency. Relationships are a central part of healing, both with others and with yourself. In our sessions, we’ll explore communication, boundaries, and self-trust, helping you develop skills that support healthier, more fulfilling connections. I also integrate mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral strategies to help you stay present, manage stress, and build resilience. Ultimately, I believe therapy is a process of self-discovery—one that helps you move from surviving to truly living. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling understood, empowered, and equipped with the tools you need to navigate life with greater confidence and clarity.

*Currently accepting new clients via teletherapy, and in-person.* I am ready to help you! I have been a therapist for 10+ years and my mission is to help you find balance in your life. I view therapy through a holistic standpoint, in which I use the mind and the body to help you get to the wellness that you so deserve. I became a therapist because I wanted to help clients navigate the stresses of work and life and make meaningful changes that would improve their mental well-being. At the first session, you can expect a non-judgmental and an easy-going conversation to build up a therapeutic alliance. At the moment, I practice in-person and over tele-health, giving us the flexibility to connect conveniently and safely. I received a Master's degree in family psychology, in 2010, from Hardin-Simmons University in Texas. I engage others by helping them feel comfortable while also being solution focused. I prescribe to a Cognitive behavioral approach which helps others see life's problems and solutions in a better light. I work with individuals ages 5-100, families, adolescents, marriage or relationship counseling, premarital counseling, and parents who need some guidance raising their children. Some areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, bipolar, problem solving, relationship specialist, communication skills, anger management, coping skills, relaxation exercises, and panic attacks.

Peace. Happiness. Love. Success. We seek them. We want them. As we see them within reach, we are knocked down by the challenges and difficulties of life. We find, instead, lives that are filled with anxiety, sadness, grief, trauma, loss and failure. I know this too well. I have experienced this in my own life and in the life of my clients. It does not matter where you are in your life. I have had celebrity clients at the top of their field. I have worked with gold medal athletes. I have worked with businessmen and women, housewives, families, adolescents. I have also worked with those who have lost everything to the ravishes of substance use and with men serving life in prison. It is possible to navigate the dangerous waters of life, but you will need a guide. I am that guide. I have excellent education from Palm Beach Atlantic University. I have a wealth of experience. I have over three decades of experience as a husband, father, grandfather, youth pastor, counselor and university professor. I have worked in the church, private practice (in Florida and the Bahamas), community mental health (specializing in crisis and families with at-risk-adolescents), foster care, substance abuse, juvenile justice and the prisons. I have maintained my relevance by teaching at the university level, advising a best-selling author on the psychological aspects of his book, and serving as a consultant to other mental health agencies. I have wonderful experience working with anxiety, depression, anger, parenting issues, challenging children and teenagers, grief, trauma, substance use issues, family and relationship issues, LGBT issues, and other issues and concerns. I have helped my clients find peace with themselves, with others and in their situations. I have helped my clients find happiness, even amid loss. I have helped my clients find belonging and love in healthy and supportive relationships. I have helped my clients increase their ability to succeed by changing their thinking. One of the foundations of my life and my work was written by M. Scott Peck in The Road Less Travelled. He wrote, “Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths… Life is a series of problems. Do we want to moan about them or solve them? Do we want to teach our children to solve them?” Let’s start today to solve some of life’s problems and to begin to grasp peace, happiness, love and success.

Yes! If you use UnitedHealthcare StudentResources you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have UnitedHealthcare StudentResources you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
