Hello đź‘‹ My name is Jennifer Murray. I was born and raised on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I completed my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Troy University in Tampa. I also hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida. I have been working with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults providing counseling or psycho-education in multiple settings since 2001. I have worked in classrooms, psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment facilities, outpatient centers, and in-home therapy. Throughout my career, I have endeavored to be a compassionate, strength-based clinician who instills hope and encouragement in those I worked with. I enjoy traveling and seeing new places. I love animals and volunteer at a rescue. I love my fur babies and hanging out with them. I am a geek and love anything Star Wars and Magic The Gathering. I love to read and learn as much as I can. I love arts and crafts. I am Buddhist and love to go to Sangha and practice and teach meditation. I look forward to working with you :)

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with introductions to get to know each other, and then ease into what changes you would like to see in your life. Please feel free to ask me questions anytime. It is important you feel comfortable because that can impact positive changes.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I am an encouraging, strengths-based eclectic therapist that tailors my therapeutic approach to each client’s needs. I honor each client’s belief system and cultural ways of knowing in therapy, often incorporating DBT, CBT, Strengths-based, and Mindfulness therapies.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

The therapeutic practices I use most often come from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and dialectical Behavioral Therapy (learning how patterns of thinking impact our moods), Narrative Therapy (counteracting internalized oppression with a healthier self-narrative), Gestalt Reality Therapy (focusing on the present and one’s agency) and other Mindfulness, Person-Centered, Buddhist, and Strengths-based theories.
