LMHC, 15 years of experience
Hello đź‘‹ My name is Jennifer Murray. I was born and raised on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I completed my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Troy University in Tampa. I also hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida. I have been working with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults providing counseling or psycho-education in multiple settings since 2001. I have worked in classrooms, psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment facilities, outpatient centers, and in-home therapy. Throughout my career, I have endeavored to be a compassionate, strength-based clinician who instills hope and encouragement in those I worked with. I enjoy traveling and seeing new places. I love animals and volunteer at a rescue. I love my fur babies and hanging out with them. I am a geek and love anything Star Wars and Magic The Gathering. I love to read and learn as much as I can. I love arts and crafts. I am Buddhist and love to go to Sangha and practice and teach meditation. I am neurodivergent and embrace all parts of it. I look forward to working with you :)
In our first session together, we'll start with introductions to get to know each other, and then ease into what changes you would like to see in your life. Please feel free to ask me questions anytime. It is important you feel comfortable because that can impact positive changes.
I am an encouraging, strengths-based, eclectic therapist who tailors my therapeutic approach to each client’s needs. I honor each client’s belief system and cultural ways of knowing in therapy, often incorporating DBT, CBT, Strengths-based, Internal Family Systems, Somatic, and Mindfulness therapies.
The therapeutic practices I use most often come from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and dialectical Behavioral Therapy (learning how patterns of thinking impact our moods), Narrative Therapy (counteracting internalized oppression with a healthier self-narrative), Gestalt Reality Therapy (focusing on the present and one’s agency), Internal Family Systems, and other Mindfulness, Person-Centered, Buddhist, and Strengths-based theories.
You deserve a life of self-love, compassion, and healing. I specialize in working with people experiencing major life changes (new career, new family configuration, losing a loved one, romantic relationship ending or beginning), depression, anxiety, trauma, neurodivergent challenges, and adjustment issues. I encourage you to show up as your full self and be seen. I view therapy as a partnership. You are the expert in your own experience, and I have expertise in mental health and healing.

Jen has been incredible. She empowers me and offers real, practical solutions to everything I bring to her. Her style is warm, authentic, and insightful. From the moment I met her, I felt supported and genuinely seen. I’ve made progress faster than I ever expected, and I’m so glad I decided to start therapy again. Looking forward to finally shedding the shame and connecting with my true, authentic self.

I felt very comfortable and safe opening up with Jennifer. Even through the phone, she had such a calming presence that immediately put me at ease. I appreciated her gentle yet insightful approach- it made the session feel meaningful and grounded.

The best therapist I’ve ever had. I’ve tried so many before finding and being “blessed” to meet Jen. She is a wonderful person and a great therapist. I am so grateful to have her helping me. You need a whole staff like Jennifer. She actually helps and provides solutions. She doesn’t waste time. She actually cares. I have been in therapy for over 30 years and she’s the first mental health professional to help me significantly since my childhood ADHD psychologist. Please give her a raise!
