Clarice Roberts
I provide compassionate, client-centered online therapy services for adults navigating behavioral health concerns, life transitions, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, stress, and other emotional difficulties. As a licensed mental health professional, I create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their experiences, develop healthier coping strategies, and work toward meaningful personal growth. My approach is individualized to each client’s needs. It incorporates evidence-based therapeutic modalities and techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Strength-Based Therapy. When the client desires, I also offer faith-based therapy, integrating Christian faith and spiritual principles into the therapeutic process. I tailor my therapeutic approach to each client's individual needs, goals, preferences, and readiness for change. Depending on the client's concerns, we may incorporate techniques from multiple therapeutic approaches throughout counseling.
I help adults struggling with depression, anxiety, imposter syndrome, perfectionism, career challenges, relationship issues, anger management, self-esteem issues, and confidence issues learn skills to find meaning and purpose in their lives.
My goal is to help clients better understand themselves, build on their strengths, navigate challenges, and develop practical tools for positive, lasting change.
First session
If this is your first time in therapy, you may feel a little unsure about what to expect, and that’s completely okay. You don’t need to have everything figured out before we meet. Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to share what brought you to therapy in a comfortable, supportive, judgment-free space. I’ll invite you to tell me what you’ve been experiencing, what's been weighing on you, and what you would like to be different in your life. We’ll also talk about your goals for therapy and what you hope to gain from our time together. You can share at your own pace, and there is no expectation that you have all the answers during our first session. As we get to know each other, we’ll identify the areas you would like to work on and develop a personalized approach that fits your needs, strengths, and goals. I hope that you leave your first session feeling heard, understood, and encouraged that you don’t have to navigate everything alone. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we’ll work together one step at a time to help you understand yourself, navigate your challenges, and move toward the changes you want.
Strengths
With more than 20 years of client experience, I bring a compassionate, nonjudgmental, and collaborative approach to counseling. I prioritize creating a safe environment where clients feel comfortable communicating openly, building trust, and exploring the experiences that may be contributing to their current challenges. I work with each client to identify underlying concerns, recognize their strengths and resources, and develop a personalized plan that supports meaningful, sustainable change. My goal is to empower clients with greater self-awareness, practical tools, and confidence as they work toward achieving their therapy goals.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with adults who have spent much of their lives supporting everyone else and are now realizing they need to make space for themselves, too. Many of the clients I work with are successful, caring, and dependable, yet privately struggle with self-doubt, low self-worth, negative self-talk, or the feeling that they are never quite "good enough." Some are carrying emotional pain from past experiences that they have never fully processed. They may have learned that expressing emotions is a sign of weakness or developed protective patterns that make it hard to trust, be vulnerable, receive love, or let others care for them. Others are entering a new season of life retirement, an empty nest, changes in relationships, or a shift in their career and are asking, "Who am I now?" or "What is my purpose?" I also work with clients who are beginning to recognize that years of putting others first have caused them to lose touch with their own needs, desires, and identity. For those seeking Christian or faith-based counseling, I provide a space to explore questions of faith, purpose, forgiveness, and whether they are truly worthy of God's love and acceptance. My clients are often ready for something to change. They want to understand themselves more deeply, heal from what has shaped them, recognize their strengths, and learn healthier ways to think and relate. Most importantly, they want to move from simply getting through life to experiencing greater peace, confidence, purpose, and fulfillment.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors connect. Together, we identify unhelpful thought patterns, triggers, and behaviors that may be contributing to emotional distress. Clients learn practical coping strategies to challenge unhelpful thinking, regulate emotions, and respond more healthily to difficult situations. When appropriate, therapy may include exercises and between-session activities to help clients practice and apply these skills in their daily lives.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop greater awareness and acceptance of difficult thoughts and emotions while learning to focus on what they can control in the present. Clients explore their values and identify meaningful goals to guide their decisions and behaviors. The focus is on building psychological flexibility, accepting experiences they cannot change, and taking purposeful action toward a life that aligns with what matters most to them.
Christian Counseling
For clients who desire faith-based counseling, I integrate Christian faith and spiritual principles into the therapeutic process in a manner that respects each client's beliefs and goals. This may include prayer, Scripture, biblical principles, and exploration of one's relationship with God, as appropriate and desired by the client. Faith-based counseling can provide an opportunity to explore life challenges, relationships, emotional struggles, purpose, forgiveness, and personal growth through a spiritual lens while incorporating appropriate therapeutic strategies.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help clients identify practical solutions and recognize their existing strengths, resources, and previous successes. Rather than focusing solely on the origin of a problem, this approach emphasizes what clients want to accomplish and the steps they can take toward meaningful change. Together, we identify what is already working, build on past problem-solving experiences, and develop realistic strategies to address current challenges.
Strength-Based
I use a Strength-Based approach to help clients recognize and build upon their existing strengths, abilities, experiences, and personal resources. Therapy emphasizes client autonomy and encourages individuals to actively identify their goals and determine the changes they want to make. Together, we develop individualized strategies that leverage their strengths and promote greater confidence, resilience, self-awareness, and progress toward their goals.
