My name is Ann and welcome. Thank you for starting your journey with me. I have been a therapist for 13 years. I returned to school in my 40’s to fulfill a lifelong dream of helping others, like you, lead their best life. I believe in mending one soul at a time. I have a history with substance abuse and worked with the courts for several years. However, I felt I needed to mend the soul underneath the addiction and became a trauma specialist, helping people move past there pain.
During your first session we will take time getting to know each other, specifically your history and what you are currently struggling with. We will discuss different types of therapy that might work for your situation. I strongly believe in giving the tools you need to move forward with your life. I will occasionally give worksheets so that you can practice the skills we have discussed during the session. You will be the one directing the therapy and I will be walking alongside you on your journey, celebrating small victories and everything that comes with becoming the best you!
Some of the treatment methods like to use cognitive behavioral therapy along with dialectic behavioral therapy. For trauma I most often use Accelerated Resolution Therapy or cognitive processing therapy. Specifically for anxiety I have begun to use tapping along with CBT or ACT. For short term clients solution focused therapy works the best. The most important objective is to start where the client is, and the treatment be collaborative.
Trauma and substance abuse has always been a passion for me. However along with trauma and substance abuse comes depression and anxiety. Sometimes it is necessary to work with the anxiety first in order to get to the trauma. My passion has been to help those with trauma or substance use to help them move on with their lives.
