Hi, I'm Amanda, I am grateful to assist clients work through trauma and emotional dysregulation. I am currently licensed in Kentucky, Virginia, Texas and Florida. I specialize in trauma therapy, specifically surrounding attachment and early childhood traumas, as well as specific traumatic events. I have 8 years experience working with people of all ages, and I am currently working specifically with adults. I utilize an integrative combination of Attachment, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Polyvagal Theory, and Mindfulness.
In our first session together we will work on getting to know each other and discuss your specific goals. We will work together to make a strategy to tailor our sessions to your specific needs and work through various therapy modalities.
I feel my specialties are trauma, attachment work, and emotional regulation skills.
I love working with clients who are interested in treating childhood trauma or other traumatic events to regulate their emotions and nervous systems.
I use attachment based therapy to help educate clients on the importance of secure attachments in your early childhood development, and the correlation to your adult relationships. Often we can be affected by emotionally immature relationships that create either internalizing or externalizing traits in our behavior. Understanding attachment can help us to have healthier attachments in our relationships.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is a great therapy modality to assist us in regulating from acute past traumas. It can also help us understand long term components of past trauma. EMDR helps clients process past trauma much more quickly than other trauma treatment methods.
Internal Family Systems is a great treatment method to understand yourself a little better and live your life a little easier. It focuses on "parts," or sub-personalities we all have and how these parts influence our everyday lives.
I find mindfulness based approaches so helpful in helping clients understand why we think the way we do. There is usually a connection between a life experience and our thoughts. Understanding mindfulness is instrumental in regulating our emotions and processing negative past events.
