I have over 10 years of experience in Mental Health and Addictions Counseling and over the years have successfully used evidenced based practices that will help you address your anxiety, depression or problems with substance use or behavioral addiction. I will do my best to help you get the most from your experience and with that in mind we'll talk about goals that you want to achieve and how you would like your life to be different. I believe most people start therapy to effect change in their lives because what they have been doing is no longer working or they're up against a new challenge. Whatever the reason our meetings will focus on what's important to you because you are the priority.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help us to collaboratively create a tailored plan to work through in follow-up sessions. My nonjudgemental style of therapy is founded in curiosity, compassion and empathy and will motivate you to use your strengths to make changes that will empower you to reach your full potential.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel that someone reaching for help is demonstrating resilience and courage and I am here to support them in achieving a healthier and more fulfilling life. When your having trouble it usually helps to talk to someone who can relate through similar life experiences. I've had my share of ups and downs with mental health and substance use issues and have grown from these experiences. I went back to school and obtained a Masters degree in Mental health counseling at USF in Tampa, FL., and their progam was amazing. It inspired and motivated me, but this work has also humbled me as I've witnessed the strength, resilience and compassion of so many people as they persevere in life. Over the last 10 years I've worked in a psychiatric hospital and in facilities specializing in the treatment of Addictions and mental health issues. It's been a rewarding journey and I'm grateful and honored each time I'm able to listen as another person shares their story. I believe that you hold the solution within you and you are the expert of your own story. I understand that sometimes we don't make the best decisions, but letting go of shame and guilt will begin in talk therapy and you'll be able to sort out the why of the problem, while also focusing on a lasting solution.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I've found CBT to be extremely effective at helping a person manage and cope with problems by identifying and challenging unhelpful thoughts. You'll learn practical strategies that will help you to deal with virtually any situation as well as reduce anxiety and depression. If there are problems with addiction CBT has been found to be among the best talk therapies available.
