My career started as a classroom teacher and school counselor. I currently have over 20 years of experience working with students and families. In addition to my school counseling career, I am a crisis clinician in a major hospital in the DFW metroplex and work in over 32 emergency rooms providing on-call patient care. We all face unexpected challenges which sometimes leave us feeling hopeless and powerless. I believe that we have the ability to make healthy and appropriate choices regardless of the circumstances in which we may find ourselves. My role as a therapist is to assist and support clients as they learn new ways of coping and adjusting to life’s challenges. Counseling will vary depending upon one’s personality, stage of life, strengths or particular concern. Getting started can feel overwhelming. You have no idea where to even begin. You’ve been putting off therapy because you’re afraid it won’t help. More than anything you’d like to be able to feel happy again. You’d like to be able to put yourself out there more and to create deeper, more meaningful relationships with others. You want to have the courage to be your authentic self without hiding behind a mask.

I use a combination approach that includes mindfulness practices, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused, and person-centered therapies. These techniques help with grounding and appreciating the present moment while identifying belief patterns that are a hindrance. My services are offered on an easily accessible virtual platform, making it convenient for you to receive the support you need from the comfort of your own space. I received my license to practice marriage and family therapy in Texas in 1995. Over the years I've had the opportunity to work successfully with many different types of clients. I am experienced with mood disorders including depression and bipolar disorder. Anxiety, and adjustment disorders are quite common. We are all products of our family and culture so these issues are discussed in individual and couples counseling sessions. Because my specialty is marriage and family counseling, I sometimes work with couples or with several family members in the counseling session. If you are seeking marital therapy, then you are already aware of how complex it is to resolve problems to satisfy both of you. I want you to know that it is possible to unravel the issues and resolve them. All that is required is honesty – primarily with yourself – and a bit of work. We have seen many couples return to a peaceful and satisfying marriage. My counseling style is relaxed, but very direct. I prefer for clients to come to counseling weary of how things are going and prepared to begin changing their life. I practice solution-oriented and CBT counseling techniques which means that we work hard to ensure you come to as few sessions as possible. Many clients report 6 to 10 sessions are sufficient to provide mastery over the symptoms that brought them to therapy. Integrity, honesty and decency are keys to success and it is my commitment to bring these characteristics to each session.

Trauma hurts. It can be sudden, life-altering and overwhelming, or chronic, subtle and nearly unnoticeable, but either way it can change the way we think about others, the world, and unfortunately, ourselves. Dealing with the aftermath—changes in our relationships, lashing out toward self or others, feeling nothing and/or everything all at once—is sometimes as hard as the initial event, especially when society, friends and family and our own minds tell us to “just get over it.” Worse, sometimes we aren’t even sure where the trauma came from in the first place, leaving us confused and even feeling hopeless. If you could just “get over it,” you would, but sometimes the brain simply cannot process traumatic events without help, and this is why trauma therapy exists. :) I'm an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in Texas. I've been in practice for nearly 15 years and have been doing EMDR therapy for 13 of those. I specialize in helping teens and adults process trauma of all kinds. My goal is to help my clients gain the skills needed to process and adapt to traumatic memories, and then allow them to do so in a safe environment. I teach them how to build boundaries and follow through, and to treat themselves with self-compassion rather than judgment and harsh expectations. Trauma doesn’t have to ruin (or run) your life. If you’re hurting, please know I’d be happy to help in any way I can.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I specialize in working with individuals of all ages. I have found that online therapy for adults is effective, convenient and the post pandemic way to obtain therapy. I am solution focused and I practice the client centered approach theory. My background is in secondary education and school counseling, for 27 years. I have had my counseling license for 12 years. I am currently a part-time, private counselor, using online with adult clients and in person, for youth, through non-profit, school programs. I earned an A.A. in Historical Studies from San Jacinto College, Central Campus, La Porte, Texas, June of 1991. I earned my B.A. in Secondary Social Studies from the University of Houston, Clearlake Campus, in Houston, Texas in June of 1994. And I earned my M.Ed. from University of Texas State in San Marcos, in December of 2010. I later added my license in Professional Counseling, in April of 2011. I am interested in the ways trauma impacts the individual and plan to be trained in EMDR, within the year. I am empathetic to the challenge that real life experiences bring and the need to heal and evolve from the times in our lives when we have lived predominately in our shadow side. I am a non-judgmental listener; I help my clients process their hurt and I inspire them to move towards best version of themselves. I find the key components to a therapeutic relationship between the counselor and the client is the foundation of trust, honesty, transparency and non-judgmental listening and reflection. I believe that everyone has a purpose, life lessons that they work through and opportunities to heal, transform and evolve emotionally, spiritually and mentally. At the Child & Adult Behavior Center, we help both adults and children, as well as parents. For adults, we help you find ways to cope with stress, anxiety, loss and depression. Not only talking through and understanding, but also concrete "what to do about it" coping skills, lead to calmer, more stable emotions and relationships. We find cognitive behavioral therapy very useful, and within that, learning the skills of mindfulness, a form of in-the-moment meditative thinking, to calm and focus the mind when emotions overtake. This fosters a new way of viewing and handling stressful situations as they arise. For children's therapy, we work with you, and with your child. Parents' feedback is a critical part of helping children feel and do better. We help you with parent-child interactions to find your way as you navigate the seas of child behavior. Our specializations are the treatment for Aspergers/autism, ADHD, Oppositional Defiance, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, emotional self regulation, the behavioral and emotional aspects of sensory issues, anxiety and depression. Our special programs also treat a wide range of neuroatypical, developmentally challenged children. Neuro-typical parent-child relationships, family relations, and parenting issues for all children and teens are also our focus. We help - you help your child - with ideas and techniques to put into action. Ideas that can greatly reduce the stress and storm of being a parent in the trenches. Peace in the home is possible!

Hello there, my name is Katarzyna Kundera Byrd, but you can call me Kash. I look forward to meeting you! I received my Master's in Social work from University of West Florida in 2016, and became licensed in 2018. Since receiving my LCSW, I have had the pleasure of working with a large range of clients, from specialized foster care, to being a medical social worker for the geriatric population. I am currently licensed in Texas, Florida, and Colorado, and work with the 18 years old+ population. My specialty is grief, but I have helped clients in other areas of mental health, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. I tailor my approaches to clients and their needs, because therapy is not "one size-fits-all".

I am a retired veteran and a single mother; I am here to validate you as the client, and you are here for a 3rd or 4th perspective in your journey through your mental well-being. I am faith-based; however, that will never allow me to turn anyone away from mental care, and everyone is accepted. I love cooking (chef skills), roller skating, and spending time with family and my furbabies. I am the author of two books and a women-based journal that includes wellness for women. I love NFL football and GO BILLS!

Hello, I am an LCSW and have been in practice for 30+ years. I have worked in multiple settings and have learned that no one goes through life without challenges. Sometimes those challenges become overwhelming, and we find ourselves full of anger, fear, anxiety, confusion or deep sadness. You are not alone in this. If you are seeking therapy for the first time or have been in therapy before, please know that this is a safe place for you. All of us want to find a place of peace and joy in our life, but sometimes it feels like we are lost in a forest. I want to help you find your way out of that, to recognize your own path. I have a strong belief that we are in a constant state of change and adaptation in life and the secret is to realize and own our personal power. Peace is accomplished through balance, boundaries and new beginnings; those three work together and empower you. I look forward to helping you begin this next step of your journey and to find your power in that.
