Hi, I’m Sandy Crisp. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and I help adults and teens who are facing challenges like complex trauma, PTSD, addiction and recovery, chronic health issues, anxiety, depression, and feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Before I became a trauma therapist, I went through my own journey that included multiple surgeries and years of rehabilitation. That experience gave me a deep understanding of what it’s like to live with invisible pain -- physical and emotional -- and how hard it can be to feel seen and supported while you're trying to hold everything together. It changed how I listen, how I connect, and how I support people in their healing. In addition to being an LPC, I’m a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), and Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist. I specialize in: • Complex trauma and PTSD • Addiction, substance use, and recovery support • Chronic pain and chronic illness • Anxiety, panic, and mood disorders • Grief, loss, and adjustment to life changes • Co-occurring disorders • Disability Affirming Care • Limb Loss Support • Navigating identity, self-worth, and personal growth My approach is warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative. I blend clinical tools with a human touch because healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. Whether you're navigating something recent or something that's been with you a long time, we’ll work together to help you feel safer in your body, clearer in your mind, and more connected to yourself.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is about connection, understanding, and beginning to map out a path forward that feels right for you. You'll find a space where your experiences are honored without judgment, and where we can start to untangle the challenges you're facing at whatever pace feels comfortable. We'll spend time understanding your unique situation, your goals, and what approaches have or haven't worked for you before. This isn't about diving into deep trauma work immediately - it's about building the foundation of trust and understanding that makes meaningful change possible. You'll leave with a clearer sense of how we might work together and some initial strategies you can begin using right away.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strength is combining evidence-based therapy with lived experience. I understand the realities of trauma, chronic illness and disability firsthand, which allows me to provide care that is grounded, validating, and immediately relevant to my clients’ lives. They often tell me they appreciate that I won't just listen and nod but will actively collaborate with them to develop strategies that create measurable change in how they feel and function day to day. My methods are grounded in research and clinical best practices, but my style is deeply human. I believe that healing happens when we acknowledge both what has happened to you and who you're choosing to become, recognizing that even in challenging moments, you retain the power to choose your response.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I most often support adults and adolescents who feel like they’re carrying more than one challenge at a time—whether that’s trauma layered with anxiety or depression, substance use alongside emotional overwhelm, or the ongoing impact of chronic illness or disability. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, misunderstood, or exhausted from trying to manage everything on their own. Some have had previous therapy that didn’t fully connect or felt too surface-level. Others are navigating life transitions, grief, identity shifts, or the emotional weight of living in a body that has changed. I work especially well with individuals who are ready for something deeper than just talking—those who want to understand how their experiences have shaped their nervous system, their patterns, and their relationships, and who are open to building practical skills to create meaningful change. My approach is a strong fit for clients looking for disability-affirming, trauma-informed care where they don’t have to explain or justify their experience. Together, we focus on increasing emotional awareness, improving coping and regulation, and helping you move from survival mode into a more stable, grounded, and empowered way of living.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns, develop healthier beliefs, and practice positive behaviors. This approach empowers clients to manage their emotions and behaviors effectively, fostering long-term resilience and well-being.

Eclectic

i use an eclectic, evidence-based approach to therapy—drawing from CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care. This allows me to tailor sessions to fit each client’s unique goals, preferences, and pace, whether they’re navigating trauma, addiction, life changes, or emotional challenges.

Trauma Informed Care

I provide trauma-informed care rooted in safety, trust, and collaboration. I understand how trauma impacts the brain, body, and relationships, and tailor treatment to support healing without re-traumatization. My approach integrates evidence-based methods like CBT, DBT, and somatic strategies to help clients regain a sense of control and wholeness.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I provide trauma-informed care rooted in safety, trust, and collaboration. I understand how trauma impacts the brain, body, and relationships, and tailor treatment to support healing without re-traumatization. My approach integrates evidence-based methods like CBT, DBT, and somatic strategies to help clients regain a sense of control and wholeness.

Somatic

Somatic therapy is a body-centered healing approach that addresses trauma and stress stored in your physical body. Unlike traditional talk therapy, somatic therapy recognizes that emotional wounds often manifest as physical symptoms like chronic tension, fatigue, or anxiety. I use somatic therapy with people who feel "stuck" in traditional therapy, experience physical symptoms of trauma, or want a gentle approach to healing that honors the body-mind connection. I integrate somatic therapy with approaches like CBT and DBT to help clients not only understand their thoughts and behaviors but also recognize how stress and trauma show up in their bodies. By increasing awareness of physical sensations and nervous system responses, clients can develop practical skills to regulate emotional reactions, reduce overwhelm, and respond to challenges with greater stability and control.

Mrs crisp is very easy to talk to you. I feel she understands and she really listens to what I have to say and helps me to understand what I'm trying to say and feeling when sometimes I don't know exactly because it's so jumbled.
