I am licensed in three states (NY, NC, and SC) and have 8 years total of clinical experience. My career started in North Carolina when I got my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Carolina University and completed my internship serving as a counselor in an inpatient substance use treatment facility. After that, most of my career was spent serving diverse populations in New York City, in multiple settings of care including substance use treatment and community mental health treatment facilities, and private practice settings. I worked with a heavily diverse, international, and multicultural population from many backgrounds. Over time I had immersive experience building a niche working with LGBTQ+ clients, with a particularly strong following of gay men navigating complexities in their identity, sexuality, and interpersonal relationships. I also worked with clients from all walks of life navigating concerns around trauma, addiction, mood disorders, major life transitions, and concerns regarding intimate relationships. I consider my counseling approach to be ecletic. I incorperate concepts from many different modalities and adapt them to the unique needs and personalities of my clients. Some of the major counseling theories I draw from include Person-centered therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognative Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, and many others.

Hi, I’m Shaleatha Brown, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and U.S. Army veteran. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, stress, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, emotional regulation, and life transitions. My approach to therapy is warm, down-to-earth, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. I understand that life can sometimes leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of what to do next. Whether you are facing a difficult transition, struggling with your emotions, working through painful experiences, or simply wanting to better understand yourself, therapy can provide a space to slow down, reflect, and begin moving forward. My professional and life experiences have taught me the importance of resilience, perseverance, and meeting people where they are. I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up as yourself without feeling like you have to have everything figured out. I use evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. Most importantly, I tailor therapy to you. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, recognize your strengths, develop practical tools, and make changes that support the life you want to create.

My name is Miguel Lopez, a Hispanic male (He/Him/His) and U.S. Army combat veteran who brings a unique perspective to my work as a therapist. Fluent in Spanish and passionate about guiding people through life’s challenges, I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Walden University, a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from Colorado Technical University, and an Associate’s in Criminal Justice from Pikes Peak State College. With over a decade of experience as a caseworker, substance abuse counselor, and therapist, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse clients facing real-life struggles and in need of daily support. Life can be tough, and we all face difficult moments—whether it’s a breakup, divorce, grief, the loss of a loved one or pet, or even a job loss. In these times, having an unbiased person to offer support can make a world of difference. I see trauma as an unexpected part of life that is often hard to process, but with the right help, it can be managed and overcome healthily. I’ve personally experienced more than my share of trauma, grief, loss, sadness, depression, and substance use, and I sought help to work through them. My approach to therapy is centered on helping people in the best way possible, always with an open mind. I often use Maslow’s hierarchy of needs as a guide, because I believe mental health is hard to prioritize when physical needs aren’t met, or issues like homelessness or substance abuse are present. I enjoy working with clients from age 5 to older adults who face Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, PTSD, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders, and other mental health or substance use challenges. It’s easy to fight battles alone and suffer in silence, but you don’t have to anymore—together, we can work toward healing and a better future.

Hi there! I am Stephen Kovacs a licensed clinical social worker with 5 years of experience helping adults who feel constantly “on edge” from anxiety and panic—always braced for the next shoe to drop, even when life looks fine from the outside. I’m licensed as an LISW-CP in South Carolina and an LCSW in North Carolina and Virginia and practice predominantly in the evenings via telehealth. My focus is on high-responsibility adults who are tired of living in survival mode: racing thoughts, worst‑case scenarios, physical symptoms like a racing heart or tight chest, and the burnout that comes from holding everything together for everyone else. Together, we’ll slow things down, make sense of what anxiety and panic are doing in your body and your life, and build concrete tools to manage spirals, reduce avoidance, and feel more in control day to day—not with fluffy advice, but with step‑by‑step, doable changes.

I am a compassionate and client-centered therapist who is dedicated to helping individuals navigate challenges related to depression, anxiety, and trauma. My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive, and grounded in evidence-based practices that empower clients to better understand their experiences, build resilience, and create meaningful change in their lives. I integrate several therapeutic modalities in my work, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness-based approaches. Through these methods, I help clients identify and challenge unhelpful or “stuck” beliefs related to past experiences, strengthen personal motivation for growth, and develop greater awareness of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in the present moment. My goal is to create a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and supported as they explore difficult emotions and experiences. Together, we work to develop practical coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and cultivate healthier perspectives that support long-term well-being. I particularly enjoy working with individuals who are navigating trauma, stress, life transitions, and mood or anxiety-related concerns. Maybe you’re the person everyone counts on, the one who handles things, keeps going, and appears to have it all together. But underneath that, you may be anxious, emotionally exhausted, constantly overthinking, or struggling in relationships. You may find yourself people-pleasing, feeling guilty for saying no, putting everyone else’s needs before your own, or wondering why the same patterns keep showing up even when you know you want something different. I work with adults who want to understand where these patterns come from and begin changing them. Often, our work explores how family dynamics, childhood experiences, and past relationships have shaped the way you view yourself, manage emotions, set boundaries, and connect with others. This isn’t about blaming the past. It’s about understanding what you learned to do to cope or feel connected and deciding what still serves you today. For some clients, these patterns become even more noticeable after becoming a parent. Parenthood can bring up unexpected emotions about your own childhood, your relationship with your parents, and what you want to carry forward or intentionally do differently with your own family. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PMH-C), and EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist. My approach is warm, collaborative, and genuine, with a focus on helping you understand yourself more deeply, heal from experiences you may still be carrying, and create healthier patterns in your relationship with yourself and others.

With more than two decades of experience, I've been privileged to work in a variety of settings including psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers, domestic violence shelters, juvenile justice, forensic facilities & child advocacy centers. I am currently licensed in AK, DE, FL, GA, ID, NH, SC, UT and VT. I hold a M.Ed and an Ed.S in counseling and I am also a a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS). One of the most rewarding aspects of my work was partnering with local law enforcement & district attorneys as an expert witness in trauma & abuse cases, conducting 300+ forensic interviews across metro Atlanta. I served as an Executive Board Member on the State of GA Sexual Offender Registration Review Board for 10+ years & conducted workshops on a range of topics, including relationships, parenting, stress management & child abuse. I help countless people "figure it out". Whether you're battling anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or struggling with relationships, I believe you are the expert of your life. Together we'll work towards finding solutions to the problems that are holding you back, so you can focus on living your best life.

I have lived a long and colorful life. Like everyone else, I've made good and bad choices and learned from each. I have 22+ years experience in the mental health and substance abuse treatment field. I DO NOT JUDGE, AT ALL, PERIOD. I can be both blunt and gentle as appropriate. My role is to offer another perspective, a way to see life more fully and function better, no more, no less. I don't pretend to have all the answers but only one slice of wisdom. I just share what can help someone. Some people are not yet ready to be helped. Yet for those who are feeling lost on life's journey and are willing to listen and learn, I'm here to assist. My life work can be summed up in three words, "offering people hope. " "The wound is where the light enters." - Jeladdin Rumi "A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once." Martin Luther King Jr. "Wouldn't take nothin' for my journey now." - Maya Angelou "The past is gone, and there is left only a blessing." - Kahlil Gibran "Be true to yourself, and you will be false to no one else." - William Shakespeare "How very lucky are we, for just a moment to be, part of life's eternal rhyme." Charlotte's Web, movie "Not all who wander are lost." J.R.R. Tolkien

*Currently accepting female clients only* Therapy has changed, and thankfully so. The old idea of spilling your heart out to someone who feels distant, judgmental, or out of touch does not work anymore. So let’s not do that. I’m Jessica Milgrome, a licensed mental health clinician with 15 years of experience, a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and a National Certified Counselor. I work with women navigating anxiety, overthinking, emotional overwhelm, relationship stress, burnout, and major life transitions. My approach is modern, direct, and judgment-free. Therapy with me is a real conversation. No awkward silence. No walking on eggshells. No wondering if you said the wrong thing. We talk openly, focus on what actually helps, and skip techniques that do not fit your real life. Sessions can be video or phone. If video feels too intense some days, that is okay. Therapy should feel supportive, practical, and human. To share a bit about myself, I’m a big fan of stand-up comedy because laughing really is life. I look forward to Mondays for Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlists and live by the mantra, “When words fail, let the music speak.” I also share my life with six dogs. I’m here to help you organize your thoughts, build confidence, set boundaries you can keep, and move forward feeling clearer and more grounded.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across the entire state. If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near your address.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
