As a former football coach, I have developed an approach to therapy that will allow me to utilize coaching concepts to address the needs of my clients. It encompasses a direct approach to address problems with the a level of understanding and empathy that will support a change in behavior. This works well with my CBT background. Therefore I have branded myself as The Therapy Coach. Which means that I am more than just a therapist to my clients.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The initial session is my opportunity to review information presented on the intake form with the client. There will be general dialogue about the client's history with their issue(s), past life experiences and building rapport.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strength is my vast knowledge and experience with dealing with individuals that have experienced some very traumatic events in their lives. Also, my understanding for the need for cultural competence in therapy. This allows me to learn from my clients as I provide services.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Those clients that do well with my style of therapy are those who are in need of encouragement through a direct approach to problem solving. These clients understand that the directness of the approach is not meant to harm or intimidate but to evoke the desire for self awareness motivate change.

Rod had a very warm and welcoming demeanor and I could tell Rod was invested in finding solutions for me. His statements and questions were purposeful not just mundane “how was your day” type of questions and I super appreciated that!!
