I hold licenses as a clinical social worker and a clinical addiction counselor. My educational background includes a BA in Psychology from Purdue University, obtained in 2003, and a Master's in Social Work from Indiana University, completed in 2006. Since 2006, my professional journey has encompassed 4 years in private practice, 12 years addressing the needs of DCS/probation/court-ordered clients, 7 years in a jail setting (including 6 years as a clinical supervisor), and a role as a clinical director at an addiction recovery center. My experience spans working with first responders, groups, couples, and individuals grappling with addiction, anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, suicidal thoughts, crisis situations, gender issues, adjustment disorder, parenting challenges, stress, self-esteem, codependency, relationship difficulties, and more. My particular area of passion lies in aiding those struggling with addiction, a field in which I have nearly two decades of experience. I feel therapy is like the gym and results are seen when working on things in a consistent manner. That being said, I strongly encourage weekly session to start and gradually reduce to twice a month and then monthly to see the best and quickest results.

Finding a safe place to express our truths and work through our challenges can lead us to success. Over the past decade, I have assissted court and non-court-involved clients develop S.M.A.R.T goals (Specific Measurable Attaintable Realistic Timely). This helps our time become focused where you are able to plainly recognize the hurdles and success. As a Latina, I also provide a safe place for those whose culturals roles add an extra layer of burden to life's challenges. The Latin culture is full of diversity and vibrancy as well as many stereotypes that resist anything outside the typical roles of men and women. I am also fluent in Spanish so feel free to say words in your native tongue that you don't feel comfortable expressing in the English language.

As a therapist, I will continue to assist client with my full ability and understanding how to decrease the negative and increase the positive internal and external related emotional vulnerabilities. I will concentrate on reaching that approach by assisting you as a client’s with developing your insight of overcoming emotional vulnerabilities and work toward those significant behavioral factors more realistically of gaining a better understanding of learning how to agree and not disagree with living life on life terms appropriately. I received my Masters in Community Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University and also have a graduate certificate in Couples and Family Counseling. I have been practicing for 12 years. I work with young adults and older, who desire a caring professional to walk with them through life's external challenges in relationships, internal struggles with strong emotions, and complex difficulties related to grief and trauma.
