I'm a licensed clinical professional counselor licensed in Illinois. I have 20 years of experience working with adults, adolescents, and children both in a school environment as well as in a private office setting. I follow a holistic rather than a medical model as I feel strongly that many mental struggles are related to unprocessed trauma and/or emotions. I strive to work with each client to help him/her achieve therapy goals and to provide support throughout this process.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I am very direct in beginning with what brought you to seek help and we review my typical approach and find out more about what you're looking for. I also use this time to allow for any questions or concerns about the process that you may have. I want to make sure in that first session, you get enough of a sense of how we would work together so that you can determine if we are a good fit or if you feel someone with a different approach would be better for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Honesty and normalizing the human condition; I don't work from a medical model, but rather a holistic one where my focus is not on pathologizing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; instead, I focus on the individual as a whole and the shared human experience.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I really enjoy working with women who are struggling with self-esteem and even possibly in an abusive relationship. I also like helping people who are working towards healing from experiencing emotional abuse. I find it easy to develop rapport with those with good senses of humor as well. I also enjoy working with those struggling in their jobs/careers and helping them to work through their stress in addition to working to problem solve with them.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I use a variety of treatment methodologies, based on your needs. Collaboration is important in order to determine the best treatment approach for you. I think it's important to build trust and focus on patterns in order to determine what goals are appropriate. Honesty and trust are so invaluable in this relationship and I feel it's essential for me to view each individual as a person looking for support, help, and sometimes direction and I will do my best to support you and to give input and provide insights to help you through your journey.
