You don’t have to go through this alone. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Illinois, I am here to help. My experience practicing in outpatient community mental health spans across diverse populations and ages in both group and individual therapy settings. I will work with you to build hope, identify strengths, cope with difficult thoughts and emotions, adjust thinking and behaviors, and alleviate the symptoms that are preventing you from living your life more fully.
In our first session together, we'll get to know each other, starting with brief introductions. We'll then delve into your present situation and specific challenges that are causing you discomfort. From this, I will develop a basic understanding of your needs, and we will discuss which therapeutic interventions might be helpful for you. This will help us create a tailored plan to work through in follow-up sessions.
Becoming a therapist has been a lifelong dream of mine, years in the making. My practice is informed by 20 years of experience in health care and international social justice where I learned to connect deeply with others of diverse backgrounds and their stories. I strive to create an atmosphere of comfort by putting my clients at ease, normalizing their experiences, and partnering with them to resolve their concerns.
I enjoy working with clients actively seeking help to resolve the impacts of trauma and grief, build self-esteem, explore gender and identity issues, and cope with life's transitions. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious about their lives.
Intrusive or reoccurring thoughts can leave you feeling anxious and depressed. Together, we will use CBT to give you tools to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected so you can change unhelpful thinking and behavior patterns and feel more in control of your life.
We will use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to increase your self-awareness, foster your ability to live in the present and gain emotional acceptance, and help you live your life according to your values. Through this work, you will develop self-compassion, increase your psychological flexibility, and have more positive experiences.
We will use Dialectical Behavior (DBT) to help you become more self-aware, improve your relationships, cope with stress and anxiety, and manage intense emotions so you can feel in control of your life. DBT can be helpful for clients struggling with PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, anger management, and many other conditions.
You are already more resilient and stronger than you believe. Together, we will draw out your strengths and build on them to create a personalized treatment that fits you and your needs.
Traumatic events get locked in our brains along with the images, sounds, thoughts, feelings, and body sensations of the original occurrence. This leads us to be triggered whenever we are faced with a reminder and can create a sense of helplessness. EMDR offers us a relatively fast and less invasive way to help unblock you so that your brain can process trauma effectively, eradicate residual symptoms, and promote healing.
