I am a licensed clinical social worker and substance abuse counselor. I am licensed in Wisconsin and Illinois and conduct telehealth sessions. I have been practicing therapy for 12 years but have been in the field of social work since 2000. My professional experience includes work in child welfare, treatment foster care, adoption, parenting concerns, substance use, domestic violence, trauma, anxiety, LGBTQIA, and life transitions.
I really feel that the first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and the therapy process better. It is simply a conversation between the two of us to help you determine if I am a good fit for your therapy journey. I always encourage questions.
I believe that my background in social work and 12 years of work prior to becoming a therapist gives me a large pool of experiences to draw from when I am working with someone. I also really enjoy learning about people and am genuinely curious about how you became the person I see sitting across from me.
Every reason for beginning or continuing therapy is a good one but they often do not fit inclusively on a list. I am always open to having a discussion about those reasons and exploring how I can partner with you on your path or guide you in the direction that I believe will be the best fit for your needs. I am 12 years into my journey as a therapist and continue to feel honored every time someone invites me to walk with them on their path. Every person seeks out therapy for a different reason and I look forward to each opportunity to listen, to learn, and to grow together. Change is possible, it starts with turning one small "stone".
