I am an energetic and creative therapist passionate about meeting with people to bring more clarity, peace, and joy into their life. I am also a Christian, mother, cat-mom, artist, athlete, amateur cook/baker, and reading enthusiast. I utilize a mixture of evidence-based practices and creative exercises to meet people where they are at, develop a deep understanding of their circumstances, as well as how they are thinking about those circumstances. I guide my client to setting specific intentions for our time together that they agree will be worthwhile. I will be warm and understanding, but I am also not afraid to challenge my clients on things they could benefit from changing. I often enjoy using humor and laughter as a force for that change. I have experience serving in a private practice outpatient capacity, intensive outpatient hospital setting, and at the residential level of care. These unique settings have given me a variety of skills and an ability to understand multiple levels of distress and/or what past treatment may have been like for my clients (the good, the bad, and the ugly.)

We are on this journey toward healing, change, growth, forgiveness, and understanding. Even though you are the main participant in your story, many times in life we lose sight of where the way is, or even how to find it, so I invite you to join me on this path. Humbly, without judging you or even assuming that I know more, allow me to lend you a different perspective and hopefully see the pain transformed.

I have had the privilege of supporting clients from diverse backgrounds in their journeys towards healing and growth. Specializing in areas such as stress and anxiety, LGBTQ+ related issues, trauma and abuse, self-esteem, and confidence building, I like to approach therapy with a deep understanding of the unique struggles individuals may face. I believe it is important to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where people can explore their thoughts and emotions freely. As a clinician I tailor the therapeutic approach to meet the specific needs of each person, drawing from a diverse range of modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based techniques, existential, motivational and narrative therapy. With an integrative approach this ensures that each person receives individualized care that resonates with their personal experiences. Above all, it is my hope that kindness, warmth, and genuine care for each person will be reflected in your experience as we explore your goals. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and strive to create an environment where people feel accepted, understood, and supported. Hello there, I'm Liz! I work with clients who are wanting to heal from past trauma experiences and get to the root causes of their struggles. Trauma changes the way you view yourself, others, and the world. It often has lasting impacts that can be manifested in your current struggles with anxiety, depression, true fulfillment in relationships, diminished executive functioning, and difficulty with honoring your needs and boundaries. My goal is to help you gain insight, build self-awareness, and foster personal growth. Some areas of focus I enjoy addressing with my clients include boundary building, negative core beliefs, strengthening internal validation, self-care, identifying trauma responses, addressing attachment wounds, aligning to your values, improving daily functioning, and developing healthy coping strategies. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic models and techniques to help my clients including but not limited to Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Polyvagal Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. For those who desire and request it, I can integrate Christian-based counseling into the therapeutic process. I believe education/knowledge of what you are going through sets the foundation to the therapeutic work you will be doing.

My name is John A. Llauget. I hold a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University and an Educational Specialist Degree in Counseling from University of South Florida. My career in mental health in 1977 working in a psychiatric hospital; and later as a outpatient therapist in a community mental health center working with children, adolescents, families, and adults. I was licensed in Florida in 1986 as a Mental Health Counselor and have maintained my license since that date. Also I have worked as an employee assistance counselor, school counselor, associate professor at an international university, and court evaluator for guardianship cases. For 20 years I worked as a cancer counselor with oncology clients helping them cope with illness, stress, and emotional distress. Additionally I have maintained a practice and interest in Traditional Okinawan Uechi-Ryu, earning a Masters rank in that system of training. I have used martial training with children & adolescents to develop self-control and self esteem. Later when I began working with an elderly population and clients dealing with physical limitations, I taught Qigong and Mindfulness Meditation as a way to improve their health, well-being, and cope with stress. My therapeutic style centers around getting to know a client, develop trust, and talking more explicitly about issues before making any recommendations. I am a strong advocate of evidence-based treatments and teaching ‘tools’ to cope with stress and emotional difficulties. I have gained training in trauma treatment because we now know that it is prevalent in our life experiences. I value compassion, persistence, and patience in working towards change. I look forward to working with you. I also value your time and want to use it productively in assisting you to reach your therapeutic goals.

I am a LCSW practicing in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of NC since 2010. Therapy is an opportunity for learning and growth, and I have witnessed amazing outcomes for individuals who worked hard in treatment to elicit positive personal change. I have extensive experience as a Crisis Clinician in Emergency Departments, as an outpatient therapy provider, a Mobile Crisis Clinician, a Health Coach, and as an Employee Assistance Program therapist. I am equipped to provide clinical supervision for associate professionals seeking licensure through the NC Social Work Certification and Licensure Board. My passions include helping others to solve problems; as well as deal with various challenges including trauma, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, faith crises, abandonment wounds, and identity experiences; all while promoting integrity and respect. I particularly enjoy working with first responders, law enforcement, young adults, aging populations and athletes. I love working with anyone who is truly invested in their own healing, and I would be honored to be a part of your journey. My 4 legged furry therapy assistants , Banjo and Maisy, may often be seen quietly snoozing in the background during online sessions.
