LMFT, 25 years of experience
New to Grow
My name is Antonette Dalberry a licensed Marriage and Family therapist in Florida for the last 25 years. I am of West Indian descent and competent with the many different cultural backgrounds that are represented here in Florida. I have worked with children, families, couples, individuals and of course the LGBTQA community. I am trained with post-post modern techniques and use quite often Cognitive Behavioral techniques, Solution Focus, Narrative Therapy and Existential Therapy with the Jungian approach that the patient is the expert in their lives.
Therapy is built on trust and that it can take time to build said trust thusly there is no rush and i am patient. However there are many parts of therapy that can be painful and i will meet the patient's needs whether they need just an ear, possible intervention or both. They set the pace to share their lives and experiences and what they are willing to work on. Change is only made when patients are aware, ready and are uncomfortable in their current lives.
My 25 and counting years of experience have left me very proficient in building rapport with many different peoples. I have worked in varied sectors of the community and there is no problem or experience i have not encountered or heard. I firmly believe in therapy, i have not lost my zest for my profession and i still believe in People.
I would like my patients to understand that they are the expert in their own lives and have been successful many times. Through exploration they will realize their potential, accept wins, have a willingness to work through and talk about their experiences. But most importantly that they understand that Therapy Works if You Work It!
Changing behavior will lead to changing the brain. Practicing behaviors that you need to adopt does not require perfection but rather increased gradual persistence. This will lead to actual new brain pathways that pilots to the desired changes that the patient needs/wants as they are the expert in their own lives.
