Therefore, I am familiar with how academic struggles can impact mental health and how mental health can impact academic success. I received my Masters from Pepperdine University and have been practicing for 15 years. I am fluent in English and Spanish and enjoy working with individuals between the ages of 13 and 17. I specialize in Depression and Anxiety as well as family and peer relationships.

Many start therapy because of anxiety or depression, but these feelings often signal something deeper, like a weak sense of identity or a lack of purpose. If you are ready to explore your inner world and face what you find, I would be glad to support you on that journey.
I work with adults, including Russian-speaking immigrants from the former Soviet Union and other countries. I offer sessions in both English and Russian.

Hi, My name is Aaron and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who loves to see people start taking more control over their life and empowering them to become the mature, healthy person that they've always wanted to be. I've found that many people get bogged down by false lies/narratives that they have in their heads like, "I'm not good enough", "I can't handle it", or the all too common "I don't deserve ... ".
These lies, whether we realize it or not, end up impacting many area's of our life, especially the way we view ourselves. With me, my hope is that you will have a transformative experience in the way you look at yourself and believe in yourself. My goal is for you to grow in believing, "There are many good things about me and that's enough", or "I actually can handle it, and I can figure things out" or "I actually do deserve ..."
When you grow in actually believing these things, it's amazing how much more mature, healthy and confident you become. You can actually re-write the way you think about yourself and you can experience life to the fullest!
I feel very fortunate to have grown up in the Bay Area, but never truly appreciated it until I left and came back. I attended high school in Marin at the Branson School in Ross. After High School I left for Wheaton College in Massachusetts where I earned a B.A. in Psychology. I moved to Florida where I received my Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Central Florida. Prior to earning my Masters in Psychology I spent a number of years working in child and adolescent residential treatment centers in both San Francisco and Orlando, Florida. It was at this time that I fell in love with working with adolescents, adults, and their families. After graduate school, I found myself working for, and soon thereafter managing, an inpatient treatment program for adolescents who had experienced severe trauma.
I returned to California for good in 2011 where I started working as the Lead Therapist for the Adolescent Outpatient Program at Fremont Hospital. I opened a part time private practice in 2012 and transitioned to a full time practice in San Francisco in early 2013.

I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgement. When it comes to the therapeutic experience, my treatment motto is “therapy is a collaborative journey.” In treatment, the client or the patient sets the pace for treatment. As a clinician, we are trained to meet our patienst and clients where they are, currently, and provide services as appropriate. I always use this analogy when introducing how treatment will proceed to clients. I explain to clients that the therapeutic journey is like a road trip. They are in the driver's seat. They are setting the pace. They are deciding the route and the destination. All I do, as their therapist, is hold the GPS, suggest alternative routes when needed, and set the music.

I suffer from PTSD and my journey into therapy began with years of denial. As all heroes do I refused the call. Then I started helping others - the immigrant, the unhoused, the addicted - and I saw the beauty of human resilience. I discovered the capacity for compassion, healing, and evolution in others as well as myself. I fully believe therapy has the power to not only help people survive but to thrive.
I have over 40 years of experience as a medical professional, first as a physical therapist and in 1994 as a Clinical Psychologist upon receiving my license. I offer a very open and supportive environment which allows safe self exposure. I have worked with anxiety, depression, relationship and pain and dysfunction issues. I include this expertise in my work with couples, heterosexual or same sex.
I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and have completed the hours toward licensure as an MFT. Over the course of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings, including residential treatment centers, partial hospitalization programs (PHP), and intensive outpatient programs (IOP). These experiences have equipped me to support individuals and families navigating a wide range of challenges.
Love and work are essential to a meaningful life. Relationships with others define experience and work gives a sense of purpose. Disturbance in these affect well being and contribute to an overwhelmed response leading to collapse. As trauma is relational so is recovery and healing. Having the right therapeutic alliance is a key element and requires, attunement and constistency.
James has over 20 years of clinical experience treating diverse individuals in a variety of settings. As a Mind-Body-Awareness trained therapist, he works with adults having problems with anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction.
In addition to having a graduate degree in Social Work from San Jose State University; he also attended years of practicum training from the following: Certification in Somatic Experiencing from SE Trauma Institute; Sierra Institute for Contemporary Gestalt Training; Professional Training in Hakomi Mindfulness-Based Experiential
Psychotherapy Santa Cruz; iRest Integrative Restoration, an evidence informed meditation practice for trauma; Certification in Satyananda Yoga Nidra; and Completion of 500 hours of Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training.
I commend you on taking the first steps to find support! Whether its anxiety, depression, grief or otherwise unknown, I provide a virtual safe space to explore all of the emotions you may be experiencing and help guide you in finding healthier ways to cope. You'll get the opportunity to better understand the root of your emotional experiences while feeling more empowered to help yourself each step of the way.
Hi there,
I primarily work in substance use recovery (abstinence and harm reduction) and trauma recovery. I also have specialized training in treating anxiety, depression, and sleep issues/insomnia. My treatment orientation is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy concepts, however the foundation of my early training was Psychodynamic.
I have been trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, STAIR (Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation), and Seeking Safety for trauma treatment. When treating anxiety, I take a CBT, or exposure approach with skill-building. For depression I utilize CBT concepts, or behavioral activation with skill-building. For sleep issues, I work with the CBT for insomnia treatment model. These are just a few examples of treatment approaches I utilize. I am relational focused, which to me means finding a plan that works best for you, practicing cultural humility and not trying to fit a round peg in a square hole.
I look forward to working with you.
