New to Grow
My name is Yolanda Medina and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist seeing clients virtually in California. Therapy with me is a space where you can slow down, feel heard, and begin to untangle what’s been weighing on you. I enjoy working with women and adults who are navigating anxiety, relationship struggles, or significant life changes that feel overwhelming or confusing. My approach is collaborative, practical, and compassionate. I use evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients understand their patterns, build emotional resilience, and create meaningful change in their lives and relationships.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know you, including what’s been weighing on you, what’s bringing you to therapy now, and what you hope to gain from this process. I’ll ask some questions to understand your history, current stressors, and patterns, while making sure you feel comfortable moving at your own pace. We’ll also begin identifying a few initial goals that will be the focus of our future sessions.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
One of my greatest strengths is the genuine empathy I bring from having navigated my own life challenges, including being an immigrant, a survivor of an abusive relationship, living with a chronic illness, and balancing motherhood and marriage. These experiences help me connect with clients in an authentic, human way while still maintaining a professional, grounded space for healing. I also use appropriate humor and a light, warm tone in sessions to help clients feel regulated and safe while working through difficult topics.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are those who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, overthinking, and the pressure to hold everything together. Many are navigating relationship stress or life transitions and feel emotionally exhausted from trying to manage it all on their own. These clients often want to quiet the constant overthinking and feel more in control of their anxiety rather than controlled by it. They hope to build healthier relationship patterns, set boundaries without guilt, and feel more confident in their decisions.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In therapy, we can explore the thoughts that come up when you experience uncomfortable emotions, and try to find ways to adjust them so you may feel more at ease.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Through this approach, we enhance what is already working and I help you notice the ways that you already help yourself.
