Hello! I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) based in sunny southern California, living with my partner, of many years, John, and our three cats, three dogs, and tortoise, who by the way, is currently hibernating...and don't we all wish we could do that at times? I have many years of experience working with individuals, and with a varied range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and relationship challenges. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings with many ethnic populations. My style is down-to-earth, relatable, at times, direct, and always with a touch of humor. I love what I do and consider it an honor to help you resolve whatever it might be that is holding you back. I look forward to working with you! By the way, a former client recently said: "I am so grateful to have worked with you, you are truly gifted, and I have learned so much!"
Do you often feel overwhelmed, stuck in your thoughts about the past or future, or overly critical of yourself? You don’t have to navigate this alone. I work with ambitious adults who want to regain control, find balance, and move forward with confidence. I’m a Southern-California native. Specifically, I’m Chinese-American, part of the Teo Chew community. Culturally, I’m Chinese-Vietnamese. My father is from Vietnam, a member of the Chinese diaspora that came to the USA as a refugee during wartime. My mother is from Shantou, China. I speak English, Teo Chew, Mandarin and Cantonese, my weakest language being Cantonese.
My knowledge areas include depression, anxiety, serious mental illness, facility-based inpatient services, lgbtq issues, grief and loss and life transition issues. I’ve worked with patients experiencing these issues, attended trainings on these topics, facilitated related groups, but there is always more to learn. I work on a sliding scale, so we can have a conversation about my fee at the point of contact.

My professional journey has included leadership within community-based organizations, serving as a probation officer with Sacramento County, and currently serving as a school counselor with the Elk Grove Unified School District. My name is Javi Gonzalez, and I am a Hispanic therapist originally from Mexico. My personal and professional background has shaped the way I connect with clients, especially men from the Latino/Hispanic community who are navigating addiction, depression, cultural identity, family expectations, relationship conflict, anxiety, and stress.
I understand that many Latino men are taught to stay strong, keep problems private, and carry emotional pain alone. In therapy, I work to create a space where clients can be honest without feeling judged. My style is direct, respectful, practical, and compassionate. I believe clients deserve both support and honest feedback as they work toward meaningful change and resolve your problems.
My own life experiences have given me a deep respect for resilience, survival, and the effort it takes to build a different future. I know that issues like poverty, cultural pressure, family responsibility, community violence, immigration experiences, and addiction can deeply affect how a person sees themselves and relates to others.
I help clients identify unhealthy patterns, develop better coping skills, improve communication, and build healthier relationships with themselves, their partners, and their families. I especially enjoy working with Spanish-speaking clients who want therapy that feels culturally familiar, honest, and focused on real-life progress.
My goal is to help clients feel understood, take responsibility for change, and move toward a more stable, healthy, and meaningful life.

Hello! I appreciate your curiosity and willingness to explore yourself and your goals. I'm Alison Camhi, a California-based Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been working with individuals, couples, families and groups for over 20 years to navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, substance and process addictions, dual diagnoses, co-dependence, mood disorders, grief, communication and the various challenges we walk through each day. My most important goal is to help my Clients transform positive AND difficult experiences into a strategy for forward movement and progress built upon your insights, along with practical tools for consistent momentum.
Are you striving to find satisfaction with your work, life or relationships? Do you want to focus on fixing immediate problems rather than unraveling past hurts? Do you want to build a strong foundation for your current or future relationship? Have you grown tired of being treated like a problem and not a person? I primarily take a narrative approach to counseling. Narrative therapy begins with the premise that you are not the problem; the problem is the problem. The way we see ourselves can be defined by the language that we use. I see my role as a co-author, helping you develop an alternate personal history so that you may move forward with courage and confidence.
I am a licensed professional clinical counselor dedicated to promoting healing and growth through a personalized, multidisciplinary approach. Understanding that each individual is unique, I integrate a variety of therapeutic modalities to meet the specific needs of my clients, recognizing that what works for one may not apply to all. I place a strong emphasis on building a trusting rapport and establishing a collaborative therapeutic alliance, where we work together to create lasting change. I firmly believe that every person has the potential to shape and develop the life they envision, and my role is to guide and support them in this process.
