By coming upon this page, you could be feeling stuck, dissatisfied, or unfulfilled with your current position or path in life, thus considering a new direction. I hold the belief that therapy can assist in managing the frustration of life’s detours, rerouting one’s path, and/or navigating to new destinations. I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who works with individuals, couples, and families. I see clients who have eating disorders, mood disorders, trauma, grief & loss, family planning/(in)fertility issues, and/or self-harm behaviors. I also support couples and families to increase their understanding, communication, and connection. I aim to collaborate with you on developing a road map for your goals while engaging with curiosity, a non-judgmental stance, and encouragement.
Our first sessions are all about getting to know each other and beginning to understand what you’re hoping to work on in therapy, or. developing a therapeutic road map. There’s no pressure to initially have all the answers and, to ensure you feel safe and supported, we can go at whatever pace feels right for you. Whether you have specific goals in mind or just want a space to talk, we’ll shape this experience and develop your road map together.
While I am a trained professional, I also believe that you are the expert on yourself and find therapy to be a collaboration. I will assist you in navigating the road map we develop, I find our dialogue to be important and necessary to ensure your needs are met and that our therapeutic journey stays on track with your desired destination and goals.
As an intensively trained DBT therapist, I work to practice a nonjudgmental stance with all clients to better understand the prompting events, vulnerabilities, emotions, and thoughts that lead to problematic target behaviors. With an increased awareness of what precipitates the behaviors you identify as problematic, I will introduce you to Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness skills. My history with Dialectical Behavior therapy dates back to 2011 when I worked in an adult comprehensive DBT program and began various DBT trainings including an intensive in 2015; I also worked as a clinical director for an adolescent cDBT program for several months in 2024 and continue to provide DBT trainings to new and seasoned providers in behavioral healthcare.
Following completion of an Acceptance & Commitment Therapy training with the ACT founder Dr. Steven Hayes in 2014, I began to utilize ACT in therapy sessions by focusing on the acceptance of thoughts & emotions, identifying clients' values, and taking action to align with said values.
I utilize Narrative Therapy in assisting clients to deconstruct problematic storylines and rewriting their scripts. Because I know that what may be true for one is not true for all, I would interact with curiosity to understand what is true for you and your emotions as we collaborate on writing & editing your new storyline.
Whether working with individuals, couples, or families, I consider Family Systems to be important for all individuals within it. In sessions, I’d inquire about your family of origin, communication styles of yourself and those around you, and the various cultures you identify with to increase an understanding of the development of behavioral patterns and impact on present relationships.
I work with individuals and couples to explore the development of your attachment styles, how your history of early childhood relationships influence your present, adult relationships.
