Hi, I’m Dr. Cathy Evangelatos, I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward healing and growth. I am a licensed clinical psychologist in California with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology. I also hold a Master’s degree in Theology, enabling me to offer specialized Christian-integrated therapy for clients who desire to integrate their faith into their personal growth and healing. I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, which provides significantly more rigorous training and expertise than a standard two-year Master’s-level therapist. Psychologists typically complete 5–7+ years of doctoral-level education beyond a bachelor’s degree, with extensive training in evidence-based psychological interventions, assessment, diagnosis, and advanced treatment approaches. In contrast, most Master’s-level therapists (such as MFTs or LCSWs) complete a two-year graduate program focused primarily on relational and family systems work. This advanced doctoral training allows me to deliver deeper, more nuanced, and highly effective care — empowering you to achieve meaningful, lasting change with greater insight, precision, and support than a standard Master’s-level therapist can typically provide.

I am a down-to-earth and collaborative therapist who believes that the foundation of effective healing is a genuine, honest connection. I prioritize creating a transparent environment where you feel heard and respected, allowing us to work as true partners in your mental health journey. My approach is grounded in the belief that therapy is most effective when it is practical, straightforward, and focused on your unique reality. In our sessions, I value honesty and the identification of healthy, realistic goals. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), where we work together to uncover the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By identifying irrational thinking patterns and challenging negative self-talk, we can begin to reframe your narrative in a way that serves your growth rather than hindering it. I understand that starting therapy can feel like a significant step, which is why I focus on providing a non-judgmental space where we can tackle challenges at your pace. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, daily stress, or life transitions, my goal is to provide you with a functional toolkit of strategies you can use long after our sessions end. I suffer from PTSD and my journey into therapy began with years of denial. As all heroes do I refused the call. Then I started helping others - the immigrant, the unhoused, the addicted - and I saw the beauty of human resilience. I discovered the capacity for compassion, healing, and evolution in others as well as myself. I fully believe therapy has the power to not only help people survive but to thrive.

Many of the individuals and couples I work with are at a crossroads—frustrated, sometimes burnt out, and seeking practical, workable strategies for change. Therapy offers a dedicated, supportive space to identify obstacles and map a path toward meaningful personal growth. With over 15 years of experience across healthcare, restorative justice, and outpatient settings, I provide telehealth therapy at Grow for adults and couples. My practice focuses on: *Chronic Pain & Complex Medical Issues *Anxiety & Phobias *Fertility & Family Building Support *LGBTQ+ & Gender-Affirming Care *Eating Disorder/Substance Use Step-Down Maintenance: Supporting ongoing recovery from substance use or eating disorders following higher levels of care. *Couples Therapy: Improving communication and relational dynamics (clinical outpatient focus only). Practice Boundaries & Administrative Policies To maintain a clear focus on clinical care, please review the following scope boundaries: *Legal & Forensic Services: I do not provide forensic evaluations, court-ordered treatment, litigation support, or expert witness testimony for legal proceedings, divorce, or custody disputes. *Disability & Administrative Paperwork: I do not perform disability evaluations or complete short/long-term disability claims; I do not write Emotional Support Animal (ESA) letters. *Telehealth & Medical Requirements: Virtual therapy for chronic pain, ARFID, or medical distress serves strictly as a complementary psychological service. Because virtual care lacks physical monitoring: A. Clients with ARFID or eating disorders must maintain ongoing care with an in-person physician for routine medical safety. B. Clients seeking pain reprocessing or somatic therapy must have their pain evaluated by a physician. ******If medical or psychiatric needs exceed virtual outpatient scope, I will assist with referrals to local in-person providers**************

Welcome! I'm so glad you are here. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over twenty years of experience in the field. I initially worked in medical settings which gave me extensive experience in helping people cope with chronic illness. Helping people learn to navigate life despite additional challenges was incredibly rewarding and inspiring. But I wanted to keep growing. So a few years ago, I went into private practice. Although my license was adequate to enter into private practice, I wanted to be as skilled a therapist as possible. Therefore, I entered a TEAM CBT training program which gave me extra training specifically in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My Level-3 certification in this form of therapy means I have extra tools and techniques to assist clients in quickly overcoming feelings of depression and anxiety. These tools are evidence-based and extremely successful at helping people actually feel better. I want clients to be able to feel better quickly and not need to be in therapy indefinitely. I believe that the process of therapy helps all of us clarify the lives we want and identify the obstacles in our way. Assisting clients through this process is the most gratifying work I could imagine.

If you are feeling stuck, and unable to make changes in your life, you're not alone. Whether it's in your professional life, your personal life, or both, feeling unsuccessful at doing life may affect your mood, your outlook, and your health. Repeated frustration and disappointment can lead to depression, anxiety, problems sleeping, etc. For 20 years, I have worked with people to help them unlearn negative behaviors and thinking patterns, replacing them with new habits and ideas that support the changes they want to make. Through experiencing success, most people find a new sense of accomplishment that improves their mood, enabling them to take better care of themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally, Deciding to enter into therapy is an important decision. I believe that it can be a major turning point in your life, and by working through a modality that considers your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, you are very likely to achieve the quality of life that you are seeking.

I utilize a positive theoretical orientation which assumes that all individuals possess an innate desire for well-balanced emotional/mental health. I believe a person enters therapy with a strong wish, whether conscious or unconscious, to overcome obstacles and free themselves from constraints that are holding them back. I find that everyone needs a slightly different approach to accomplish these goals, so I adjust in technique for each specific challenge. I truly enjoy the experience of guiding my clients through this process and consider it a privilege to play such an important role in a person's life. “Crying does not indicate that you are weak. I help people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other mental disorders. I help them further develop their mindfulness, assertive communication skills, and capacity for love & respect for themselves, and, consequently, the rest of the world. I don't merely believe in therapy, I know first-hand the beneficial power it can provide. Before seeking mental health services for myself, I not only suffered from low self-esteem, I also experienced severe panic attacks. I am, and forever will be, grateful each and every day that those symptoms now only exist in my past. These are just a few of the reasons why mental health is by far my greatest passion in life.

Hi, I'm Eva. Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, tired and just not as active in your life as you would like to be? Feeling challenged with just keeping up with everyday activities. Seem to forget to take care of yourself, that everybody else comes before you? I help people like yourself to get back to feeling more positive, less tired, burnt out, isolated and lonely. We will together come up with a plan for how to best work on the issues that you want to change. We will use an approach that you feel most comfortable with, and work toward a life that gives back pleasure, harmony and ease. Whether you are dealing with a situational situation or a longer-term struggle I'll be there to support you through your work. You have already taken a big step in the right direction just by reading through different clinicians' statements. The next step is to choose a clinician, contact Growth Therapy and set up an appointment. Sometimes these are the hardest steps to take. One of my most important goals is to provide you with a safe space where you feel validated, and supported and provide you with no judgment, compassion and respect.
