Adrian Romo
I help people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other mental disorders. I help them further develop their mindfulness, assertive communication skills, and capacity for love & respect for themselves, and, consequently, the rest of the world. I don't merely believe in therapy, I know first-hand the beneficial power it can provide.
I help them further develop their mindfulness, assertive communication skills, and capacity for love & respect for themselves, and, consequently, the rest of the world.
Before seeking mental health services for myself, I not only suffered from low self-esteem, I also experienced severe panic attacks. I am, and forever will be, grateful each and every day that those symptoms now only exist in my past. These are just a few of the reasons why mental health is by far my greatest passion in life.
First session
Our first session will, of course, involve the building of rapport. I will discuss my approach to mental health and provide some encouragements that seem to correspond with emotional intelligence. Next, I will inquire as to what brings you to therapy and what goals you would like to work towards. We will get to know one another at least a significant amount. If desired by the client and time permits, we can explore your childhood and relationship you had with your parents.
Strengths
My greatest strengths are my passion and empathy. I do not believe you will not find a therapist more passionate about helping others improve their mental health and reduce their suffering. The desire to reduce the suffering of others came from the realization that the suffering that I had endured growing up had not only been experienced by me. Seemingly obvious information, I know, and yet up until that point, I didn't... know it. In actuality, the suffering caused by mental illness (and the world we live in) is, to varying extents, experienced by everyone. A distant third would be my work experience. I graduated with a Master of Science degree in Psychology in 2008, and have been working as a therapist ever since.
Ideal clients
I am a helper. And I help people who are currently struggling with depression, anxiety, and other symptoms. I will help you expand your mindfulness, improve assertive communication skills, and view yourself, and, consequently, the rest of the world, as living beings worthy of love and respect. I do not simply believe in therapy because of empirical evidence and things I've read in college textbooks... I KNOW, personally, first-hand, the beneficial power it can provide. Before seeking mental health services for myself, not only did I suffer from low self-esteem and other depressive symptoms... I also suffered from severe panic attacks. I am grateful each and every day that I no longer suffer from those symptoms. This is just one of many reasons why mental health is the greatest passion and value of my life.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have extensive training and experience in CBT as well as TFCBT and my approach incorporates the Cognitive Triad, which involves the correlation between our thoughts, feelings, and behavior. I encourage my clients to take ownership of their thoughts, feelings, and behavior and make an effort to include Positivity, Mindfulness, and Assertiveness when assessing their own thoughts, feelings, and behavior.
