I am a licensed clinical social worker in Georgia focused on providing services to individuals and families. I have a Master's Degree in Social Work and a PhD. in Social Work: Policy, Planning and Administration and have over 10 years of experience providing clinical services to children, teens and families. The onset of my career began with helping children and families within a community mental health setting as well as those involved in the child welfare system. My clients have a wide range of concerns including: Anxiety, Depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I've also worked with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse. I believe in a humanistic, person-centered, cognitive behavioral approach to therapy where the focus is on helping clients develop a stronger sense of self within a non-judgmental therapeutic setting. I am a proponent in addressing factors that contribute to the healing of the spirit, mind and body. I am happy that you have taken the first step in your healing process and I look forward to working with you.
My goal is to create a safe nonjudgmental therapeutic space where my clients feel heard. The first session is usually dedicated to establishing rapport and learning about the factors that contributed to clients taking the first step in their healing process. I want clients to feel as sense of peace, achievement and increased self-confidence after each session.
I believe in a humanistic, person-centered, cognitive behavioral approach to therapy. Humanistic therapy highlights the client's potential and self-discovery. The goal with humanistic therapy is to help you develop a healthy sense of self and explore feelings while focusing on one's strengths. This is done on my part by seeking to understand you and relate to your experiences through a nonjudgmental lens. By utilizing a person-centered approach, the goal is for clients to achieve a sense of independence and increase coping skills that will enable you to tackle future problems. Finally, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is often implemented to assist clients with recognizing unhealthy thought patterns that negatively impact feelings and behaviors.
I have over 20 years of experience working with children and teens in community settings as well as within the child welfare system. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to establish rapport with children and teens and help them develop the tools necessary to address their symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD and ODD.

Dr. Hankins has a very gentle, nonjudgmental, and sincere approach to therapy. She is personable and warm. She prioritizes the best interests of her clients, and asks open-ended questions while offering support when discussing challenging topics. Her transparency made me feel comfortable with being transparent, and open to discussing challenging topics. I appreciate her expertise as a well-needed resource, and overall sense of representation.
