I was inspired to become a therapist as a young child, with the value of wanting to help others. I realized I wanted to help people believe in themselves and to see their own possibilities. Validation is one of the most important tools I value as a therapist and as a person. I teach clients to self validate, to know what you experienced is true and real. I value the process of creating this safe space where one can see themselves just as they are. I ask for feedback to see if how I respond through validation fits for the client, if they felt heard and validated.

Life stressors are very high for many people these days. If you are seeking emotional support and help with processing your thoughts and feelings, feel free to reach out to me. I will focus on building a connection with you to understand the reasons for your suffering and work together to help you feel better. I am a clinical psychologist with an integrative approach. I focus on the clinical relationship and draw upon existential, emotion-focused and cognitive-behavioral theories. I will help you identify areas of suffering, including maladaptive thought patterns and current life stressors to help you improve your overall well-being. Sometimes it helps to talk to someone besides your loved ones or friends, someone who will have a more objective and professional look at your situation/problems. I was born and raised in California, the daughter of immigrants from Mexico, they came to the United States hoping for a better future and opportunities. I am a first-generation college graduate and understand the sacrifices many parents make to give their children a better future. I attended California State University Dominguez Hills and have a background in Child Development and Human Services. I recognize that it takes courage and vulnerability to embark on a journey of self-discovery through therapy. I have a strong background in Critical Race Theory, which offered me a lens to analyze critically how systems of oppression affect people in underserved communities. I work from a trauma-sensitive, client-centered approach. I have worked in community mental health for six years, helping individuals recognize their potential and greatness. My values and beliefs embody my Mexican culture and spirituality. They align with the core values of the social work profession of service, respect, justice, dignity, the worth of a person, self-determination, integrity, importance of human relationships, and competence (National Association of Social Workers [NASW], 2017). I believe individuals can rebuild their lives, change, and recover. Effective helping constitutes the ability to believe that people can change by showing empathy, showing them that you care, respecting their culture, and by showing people that what you do is consistent with what you say.

I utilize a positive theoretical orientation which assumes that all individuals possess an innate desire for well-balanced emotional/mental health. I believe a person enters therapy with a strong wish, whether conscious or unconscious, to overcome obstacles and free themselves from constraints that are holding them back. I find that everyone needs a slightly different approach to accomplish these goals, so I adjust in technique for each specific challenge. I truly enjoy the experience of guiding my clients through this process and consider it a privilege to play such an important role in a person's life. “Crying does not indicate that you are weak. Since birth, it has always been a sign that you are alive.” ― Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

Hi, I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, practicing in Northern California for 20+ years. I believe everyone has inner wisdom that is often difficult to access when we have dealt with trauma, fear, shaming and abuse. My goal is to help clients access the parts of themselves that they feel disconnected from or would like to develop further. I believe very strongly that healing and change are possible at any age! I like to teach skills that help with finding the strong parts of each person, that may have been suppressed or cut off, due to life circumstances.

My name is Dannielle Cervantes, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), with 10 years of experience in the field. I am passionate about providing empathetic, compassionate, unconditional support to individuals, couples, and families in their healing journey. My expertise lies in treating a wide range of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, relationships, and life transitions. I am committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for all clients, and I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual. I utilize humor, playfulness, and understanding as tools to help clients feel better. My approach is warm and easy-going, and I find that provides a space where people feel at ease to discuss and explore the issues that brought them to therapy. I am a therapist who actively engages and meets a client where they are at, and works to create a space that allows clients to find solutions to the issues they are facing. As an MFT, I explore how past experiences or traumas shape a person's life, behaviors, and relationships. I am a trauma specialist, and I work from a trauma-informed space. I utilize approaches that promote safety and healing, along with shifting old patterns of behavior. I integrate mindfulness skill training, along with creating self-awareness, to promote change. I recognize and respect the cultural backgrounds and experiences that shape perspectives and experiences of clients. I tie strength-based work throughout all sessions, with focus on resilience, strength, and empowerment to promote growth. Using these approaches in my work, I am able to help people explore and heal old wounds that may be causing current issues.

**ACCEPTING ADULTS (18+) ONLY** Hi, I'm Yang. And I'm here to help you heal from self-abandonment and emotional dysregulation. Self-abandonment occurs when we struggle to stand up for our needs and live by our authentic values; often, we don't even know what they are. Those who struggle with self-abandonment don't feel like they know who they really are, and what they want, and often feel directionless and ungrounded. We feel small, afraid, anxious, aggressive and dependent on others. Emotional dysregulation occurs when we don't understand our emotions and how to manage them. They control us, instead of the other way around. We behave in ways we wish we didn't, and we build up shame around those behaviors as if they are who we are. We cannot separate our emotions from who we are. These issues often lie at the heart of different mental health struggles, such as depression, anxiety, as well as many relationship challenges. The good news is that resolving these, therefore, can potentially lead to ripple effects of change in your life.
