LCSW, 7 years of experience
I am a community healer that enjoys impacting people at both individual and environmental levels. My background consists of nonprofit leadership, clinical social work, outreach and engagement, grant writing/management, program development, impact communications, advocacy, training development, and both individual/community service planning. I am a social worker, so not only am I passionate about impacting individuals, but I always ensure that I have resources so that you can maintain in between sessions.
I spend time trying to identify their current environment and assess their current crisis.
I have been told I am really relatable and easy to talk to. Like the Auntie, friend, or cousin that listens but is firm on holding you accountable (i.e. homework). I am fine working with clients in crisis and have the ability to keep myself grounded and support you with grounding yourself as well. I have a lot of experience working with high crisis situations, so there is not much that surprises me. Oh, and I am a real human.. I do not try to put on an act for my clients and it has always been appreciated.
My dream clients are typically struggling with PTSD, sexual trauma, adjustment disorder, anxiety, a recent loss, and/or depression. My clients typically range from ages 24-40; 65+. I typically work with BIPOC women and men. I enjoy supporting people find new passions and/or process childhood experiences that are showing up in their adult life. I love working with couples as well. And all of my clients must be open to homework!
I believe CBT has been beneficial to my clients struggling with depression, anxiety, and isolating behaviors. I believe healing through CBT brings awareness to our feelings of self, how we approach our thoughts, and how we create an environment that truly accommodates where/who we would like to be.
Couples counseling is one of my absolute favorites. I approach each couple as a unit looking to better understand their connection. Through communication, mirroring, patience, and effective listening, couples counseling can enhance understanding of your partner, and yourself within your unit.
We are all familiar with the various stages of grief. If have recently experienced a loss, it is important to sit with the various stages. I prefer to act as a support through this process.
I believe therapists should look at the world from a trauma-informed lens. I have worked in clinical settings where being trauma informed is extremely important and supported others in identifying how to become more trauma-informed through community programming and design.
I've found that my clients that are in need of support with motivation tend to love strength-based approaches. My role in this is to support you in becoming a more resilient you.

Dry, and simply attempts to reiterate what you say back to you. Didn’t feel heard or understood, and didn’t feel like anything was being worked on. I also wasn’t comfortable with the informal and causal way she conducts her sessions. This provider is maybe too laid back, and doesn’t help with growth nor providing tools for improvement.

Ericka is kind and warm. She listens well and gives thoughtful advice. When I first came to her she identified some thoughts and patterns that I was exhibiting and helped me reailign my perspective. Since that time I have been able to reuse those ideas and redirect my feelings towards a more quality lifestyle.
