My name is Trishka L. Lampkin, and I am an African American Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I bring more than 18 years of experience in social services and over 10 years of clinical experience working with adults, teens, couples, and families across nonprofit, shelter, residential treatment, and outpatient settings. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mills College in 2008 and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Holy Names University in 2012, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. In addition to private practice, I continue to serve Contra Costa County’s mental health system and community-based organizations as a clinician, bringing a strong commitment to culturally responsive, client-centered care.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I provide strength-based, directive, and solution-focused psychotherapy grounded in the belief that every person has an innate capacity to heal, adapt, and build resilience. My approach is compassionate, practical, and empowering, helping clients recognize their strengths while developing the tools needed to create meaningful change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My goal is to help clients feel seen, supported, and equipped to move forward with confidence. I have supported individuals, couples, children, families, and teens as they navigate complex emotional and life challenges, including childhood trauma, sexual compulsions, divorce, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, addiction, classroom behavioral disruptions, ADHD, oppositional defiance, court-ordered interventions involving CPS, Probation, and Family Court, as well as LGBTQ+ issues such as coming out and acceptance. I understand that life can be difficult, and I believe therapy should offer both a safe space for healing and a clear path toward growth.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

A strong fit is a client who is receptive to feedback, actively practices skills learned in session, and applies those skills in daily life. This client is open to completing homework outside of session and, when assignments are not completed, is willing to work on them during session with support. They are able to communicate their needs clearly and are comfortable with the therapist using appropriate humor and, when clinically relevant, sharing lived experience in session.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and other evidence-based practices to provide psychoeducation and support clients in understanding how their thoughts influence their emotions and behaviors. Through this work, clients develop skills to regulate mood, improve communication, increase distress tolerance, and strengthen interpersonal effectiveness to support healthier relationships. Clients also learn mindfulness strategies to help them remain present, relax, and ground themselves.
