Every person has a story. The culmination of experiences in one's life shapes how they view themselves, their relationships, and the world. I have a passion for helping clients celebrate their unique strengths and gifts they share with others. With experiences in both private practice and hospitals, I have noticed a particular need for clients to separate their view of themselves from their current difficulties and circumstances. In spite of where clients may find themselves at the moment, my belief is that they have overcome every difficulty, challenge, and trauma that they have faced up to the present moment. As such, they will withstand their current circumstances, and will again declare victory.

I approach clients with the an open mindset, looking to explore what the client needs and what they want for themselves. I always want my clients to know there is no judgement from me in their decisions, EVER. I view everyone's mistakes as us just being human and having a human experience. This practice of examining our human journey and what motivates us to do the things we do is extended to myself, my clients and my children/family. I often attempt to have the practice of asking myself "why did I do that? Did I do that because of this or because I was feeling blank?" I think it is important to help others get to the place where they ask themselves the same type of questions. We're all here just having human experiences!

Let's see if you relate to these: You're exhausted from second-guessing every decision. Your inner critic is loud and mean. In general, your thoughts are loud and racing. Getting out of bed some days feels impossible. You're disconnected—from your body, from younger versions of yourself, from what you want. Here's what we'll do together: We'll quiet that critic. Rebuild your trust in yourself. Process the hard stuff and spot the patterns keeping you stuck. You'll get clear on what matters to you—then use that as your compass. I bring warmth, humor, and real talk. I'm here to listen and gently challenge you. We'll work with your whole self—mind, body, values—so you can stop second-guessing, feel lighter, and remember your own strength. It's time to decide what deserves your energy, and what doesn't.

I know at times life can seem confusing or even impossible. I believe with every fiber of my being we all have the answers we need. Somehow we get separated from our core strength. You are the expert on you, you alone hold your truth. I am interested in your story and use the description, "enlightened witness" as a way to describe some of what I do in my work as a therapist and healer. I see myself as a fellow traveler, a helper, and a companion who "holds the lantern" to help guide people to move out of dark places and into their truth. Much of the time we are living a narrative others have crafted, often driven by fear or pain rather than strength. These narratives can feel like prisons but we can heal and take back our story, and choose to see from our core. Embrace compassion, reflection and most of all self-love. Some of my greatest joy comes from helping people move past pain into healthy and loving relationships with themselves and others. I believe suffering is inevitable but not without wisdom and growth. Sometimes seeing our strengths is difficult. Self-love must include your whole being and all parts ~ messy, vulnerable, raw and authentic. You are the velveteen rabbit and you are already worthy of your own love. You are already real. I am licensed in Virginia, West Virginia and Texas. I see clients in these states only at this point. FYI Please schedule on the hour only. Otherwise, I will have to call you back and reschedule. I usually offer mostly daytime hours so having the time to meet during the day is important.

If you are considering psychotherapy, you are taking the first step toward positive and lasting change. Through the process of guided self-exploration, you will become aware of the negative patterns of thinking and behaving which have often led to you not achieving the success you deserve. The goal is to help you end patterns that are not working by replacing them with healthy habits that will increase your wellbeing. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida. I have a master’s in psychology and have been providing psychotherapy for the past 24 years. My professional and educational background have given me a very effective approach to treating clients who may be experiencing a variety of issues affecting their emotional wellbeing. I work with individuals, couples, and adolescents. I use evidenced based practices which have proven to increase client success. However, I recognize that every individual is unique and tailor my treatment in a way that is most beneficial to each of my clients. Ultimately, the goal in therapy is to empower my clients to become experts at facing life’s challenges in a calm and confident manner. You deserve to be happy. You deserve a new beginning. Therapy is a journey that is not always the easiest to embark upon and just showing up is half the battle. Over the past decade, I have worked with adults, adolescents, and families across diverse settings, including hospitals and the criminal justice system. My practice integrates psychodynamic insight with cognitive-behavioral techniques, and I am EMDR-trained with particular experience helping clients recover from trauma. Treatment is always tailored to the individual, drawing on evidence-based methods to promote meaningful, measurable progress. Hi. I'm Steve. Do you ever wonder why, no matter how many different things you've tried, you fall back into old behaviors that hurt you and/or those you love? Do you wonder why your emotions take over and leave you feeling incapable or overwhelmed? Do your emotions get in the way of effectively communicating when it matters the most? We all face questions like this, and the most fulfilling part of my work is helping people like you find answers to those questions. I don’t have any “one-size-fits-all” solutions, but together we will work to identify what drives your responses and what you can do to make lasting changes. We will work to help you anticipate and prevent issues before they appear, to feel emotional intensity rising and calm it down, and to exit stressful situations before doing or saying something you’ll regret. I don’t believe that our worst moments define us. I DO believe that each of us is capable of overcoming past struggles and finding a new path. I look forward to working with you as you try to find yours.

I will always provide a safe space of acceptance and non-judgement for you to share your emotional pain, grow to love and be kind to yourself, and find the peace you deserve to heal. Remember that you are worthy and deserving of being free of the emotional pain you are experiencing. Be kind to yourself. **If you are viewing my profile for your child (3-17 years of age), I provide a calming and accepting space to assist with regulating your child's emotions. If your child is experiencing symptoms of anxiety, ADHD or difficulty focusing due to inattention or hyperactivity, or your child is lacking motivation and seems more irritable and angrier than usual, I can teach your child coping skills and strategies. As a Licensed Psychotherapist serving clients in Florida, Georgia, New Hampshire, and Texas, I am passionate about supporting individuals on their journey toward healing, growth, and reconnection. I believe that true healing is not just about the mind, but also about honoring the body and nurturing the spirit. This belief has shaped my Somatic Insight Therapeutic Approach—one that gently invites you back into relationship with yourself. With a strong foundation in trauma-informed care, I have seen how powerful it can be when we slow down and begin to listen to what the body is holding. Together, we create a safe, supportive space where you can explore your inner experiences with curiosity and compassion. By weaving together mindfulness, body awareness, and evidence-based therapeutic practices, I help you tune into your emotions, understand your nervous system, and move through your experiences at a pace that feels right for you. Our work together is collaborative and personalized. We may integrate reflective conversation, breathwork, and gentle somatic practices to help you reconnect with your body, build self-awareness, and find a sense of grounding and steadiness within. My intention is to support you in feeling more at home in yourself—more connected, more resourced, and more empowered in your healing. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, chronic illness, life transitions, or the lingering effects of trauma, you don’t have to do it alone. I am here to walk alongside you with care and intention, as you rediscover your strength, reclaim your story, and move toward a deeper sense of balance, peace, and wholeness.

Hello! My name is Adam Lenker. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed in Texas and Wisconsin. Whatever you are dealing with, know that I am here to listen and support you, through harnessing of compassionate self-awareness. I believe strongly in encouraging self-empowerment, focusing on choices and their results. Central to my theoretical orientation (Person-Centered, Existentialist) is a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, being solution-focused, as well as encouraging mindfulness. A little bit about how I approach therapy. In creating an alliance with a new client, I adopt a stance of listening and confronting situations non-judgmentally and with compassion, acknowledging that this work is about you, and your life's goals and struggles. My practice is built around partnership with my clients, working hard to establish and maintain this therapeutic alliance. I do this by taking cues of direction, pace and depth from the people with whom I work, and allowing for immediacy to inform what is and is not working.

Hi there, my name is Shawn Taylor. I’m here to help. Are you experiencing anger or frustration because important needs and expectations remain unmet? Are you struggling to balance your relationships, work, health, and personal responsibilities? Do you feel anxious or uncertain about the direction your life is taking? Have unhealthy habits or recurring patterns kept you from becoming the person you know you are capable of becoming? Throughout my career, I have consistently observed that most people genuinely want to change. What is often missing is not motivation, but a practical understanding of how to turn insight and intention into consistent, sustainable action. For more than 20 years, I have studied human behavior from three professional perspectives: criminal justice investigator, educator, and mental health practitioner. These experiences have taught me to look beyond symptoms and identify the underlying experiences, beliefs, emotional responses, and behavioral patterns that may keep people stuck. My approach helps you understand those patterns, strengthen emotional and behavioral self-regulation, process unresolved experiences, develop healthier coping strategies, and build greater personal agency. Rather than simply asking, “What is wrong?” we also explore: “What happened, what patterns developed, what keeps them active, and what can you begin doing differently?” My goal is to help you translate greater self-awareness into healthier decisions, behaviors, relationships, and outcomes—with greater clarity, resilience, confidence, and self-direction. I earned my MA in Counseling Psychology from Houston Graduate School of Theology in 2014 and have served as a Houston Police Department Criminal Justice Investigator, Spring ISD Career & Technology Educator, and independent Mental Health Practitioner. Texas Licenses: • LPC — #73416 • LSOTP — #99449 • LCDC — #12929

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Texas. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Texas from Houston to Austin! Yes! If you use Aetna - Gravie you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Aetna - Gravie you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
