New to Grow
Hello, I'm Marquitta “M” Henry, the owner and founder of Spoken Minds Counseling & Consulting, LLC. With nearly a decade of experience in various therapeutic settings, I am a board-certified counselor dedicated to helping individuals thrive. My journey has taken me from volunteering as a grief counselor for children and adolescents at Alive Hospice to working in the drug and alcohol detox unit at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the importance of developing key coping skills to strengthen the mind daily in positive aspects. I believe that everyone has the potential to thrive, but societal and environmental factors often silence mental health, creating negative stigmas. My goal is to educate, support, and facilitate my clients' thoughts while building on their strengths and addressing their weaknesses. I focus on promoting mental wellness through cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy methods, providing educational resources when necessary. I specialize in helping clients with addiction, adolescent and teen mental/behavioral health, anger management, anxiety, depression, grief/bereavement, life transitions, multicultural/diversity issues, spirituality, and stress. Whether you prefer in-person sessions or SonderMind Video Telehealth, I am here to support you on your journey to mental resilience. Working with me means you'll find a safe, supportive environment where we can explore your thoughts and feelings together. I am committed to helping you build mental resilience and develop the coping skills you need to navigate life's challenges. Let's work together to promote the wellness of your mind and help you thrive. I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your journey. Feel free to reach out and take the first step towards a healthier, more resilient you.
The first session includes casually getting to know who you are as a person. We will determine your needs and expectations while in therapy treatment. We will review some questionnaires/assessments to figure out how intense your problems or concerns so that we can determine what will work best for you to thrive during this therapeutic process.
My therapeutic approach embodies transparency. I believe that clients understanding the "why" in therapy is helpful to effectively determine the best method that works for you. I believe that therapy can be simple or complex as your concerns. I also believe my therapeutic approach is realistic that provides resources and education related to your concerns. While transparency is my approach, I also try to navigate what does not work for you and shift gears to things are best helpful for your situation.
I am most fitting with a client that is highly motivated for treatment and change of healthier mental wellness. Navigating through stressful conflicting situations can becoming increasingly stressful. I believe that identifying the concerns that you have and talking about your current ways you are handling situations is the first step. Once identifying the concerns, stressors, or problems, we can work together to find ways to cope so you are at an optimal level of mental wellness.
I currently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to explore emotions of my clients and the impact on behavioral responses. Additionally, I use this method to find the best coping skills catered to your life experiences.
I currently use Solution Focused Brief Treatment to identify conflict and distress that can determine congruent solutions that cater to healthier mental wellness.
