Hi! I'm a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Texas with 6 years of experience. I help individuals, couples, and families learn to love and relate to one another in a more healthy and secure way based on a deeper understanding of each other’s experience and application of new skills. My clients seek me out when they've been experiencing relational distress and are unable to improve it on their own. You might consider me if you've tolerated your situation for years and the thought of continuing is so painful that you're on the brink of ending or cutting off the relationship unless things change. Prior to private practice, I provided trauma-informed care at nonprofit organizations helping unhoused persons recover from substance abuse and learn life transformation skills; and supervising court ordered visitation between children and their non-custodial parents. I hold an MA in Professional Counseling from Texas State University.

I enjoy working with people to help them build a strong sense of self, encourage their confidence in relationships, and help foster a sense of calm and security in their everyday life. I enjoy helping parents navigate the many challenges that come our way. I believe people seek therapy for many reasons: adjustment to a new city or life situation, feeling overwhelmed or stuck, or problems with relationships. Counseling is a process that most of us could benefit from time to time at different stages in life, as it brings an outsider's perspective to events, we are faced with in day-to-day life in a nonjudgmental way.

Hey there! I'm Karen Lanxon, a Licensed Professional Counselor and I help Texas working moms find balance, restore purpose, and thrive without the stronghold of guilt and burnout. I’m a working mom of three amazing kids (two young adult boys and a preteen girl. Yikes!) and married to my high school sweetheart. If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I’m a huge people person who loves the Lord, journaling, dancing, serving at my church, and finding every opportunity to laugh. My life is full, busy, and blessed—but I’d be lying if I said I’ve never felt overwhelmed, burnt out, or like I’ve lost a little bit of me in the shuffle. Through the under standing that it’s ok to have Jesus & therapy, plus the gentle, loving nudges from my husband (like, "Karen, you’re doing too much"), I’ve learned the power of saying no, prioritizing rest, and making space for the things that bring me joy: a quiet moment with my journal, a dance break in the kitchen, or laughing until my sides hurt, I’ve discovered that balance isn’t about perfection—it’s about grace. Through my personal journey and over 20 years working with families through the foster care system, education, and my church community, I felt called to counseling—especially to help fellow moms. As a Christian, wife, and working mom, I GET IT! I know firsthand the challenges of balancing work, family, and faith while trying not to lose yourself in the process. There’s nothing more fulfilling to me than helping women grow as parents, as individuals, and in their faith. Together, we can embrace imperfection and discover the beauty of thriving in every season of life. Book a FREE 15 min consult to see if we are a good fit!

Hi, I'm Abel Garcia, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over two decades of experience in the mental health field. My journey began in 1999, working in child and family welfare, and has since evolved into a dedicated practice focused on helping individuals aged 13 and up navigate life's challenges. I believe it is important to create a sense of safety and security in my practice. With safety comes vulnerability, and when we reach that space we will do our best work to help you feel seen, accepted, heard, and loved. Throughout my career, I've supported clients through a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including those who feel overwhelmed by the stresses of life, are battling low moods, or find themselves constantly worrying. Whether it's the weight of the past, the pressures of the present, or concerns about the future, I work alongside you to help ease these burdens. I specialize in trauma, adult ADHD, disordered eating, and body image/self-worth concerns. My therapeutic approach is integrative, combining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with humanistic techniques to create a holistic, strength-based experience for my clients. Having faced my own struggles with body image and self-worth, as well as managing ADHD as an adult, I understand the importance of having a safe, supportive space where you can be vulnerable and feel truly understood. Therapy with me is a partnership where you can expect to be met with empathy, humor, and a genuine desire to help you uncover your strengths and achieve your goals. For those who may find it difficult to open up—especially men. My goal is to create a space where you can tackle what’s on your mind without feeling judged or pushed. We’ll work at your pace, focusing on what matters most to you.

I have been working in the field of mental health for 14 years. I have experience working with a diverse range of people and mental health disorders. My professional background includes experience in the inpatient, outpatient, and intake hospital setting; non-profit agency setting; and, most recently, private practice. This experience allowed me the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, adults, and families utilizing a variety of unique interventions including cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, eye movement desensitization (EMDR), and sand tray. I specialize in the treatment of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but I often take a client centered approach when building a trusting relationship with clients. Research shows that people who experience chronic mental health concerns have untreated trauma, which can occur from a variety of different experiences. Of course, trauma does not account for all mental health concerns, so it is important to be able to meet client's where they are at and provide interventions that are helpful to the individual needs of each client.

Many had caregivers that struggled with mental health issues or substance abuse. I also specialize in helping individuals navigate the anxiety associated with spiritual deconstruction. My clients often report difficulty connecting with and trusting others. They report feeling shame, self-doubt or negative self-talk. Many experience ongoing conflict in relationships, loneliness, depression or anxiety. Loss of community, difficulty making decisions or trouble setting limits are also common. Perfectionism and procrastination. My experience includes work with adults and adolescents age 16 and older. My expertise in treatment of trauma, depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts, and the recognition of the impact that larger systems, such as family and community have on the a person's well-being, help me empower clients to find the relief they're looking for. It would be a privilege to guide and support you through whatever life has thrown your way. Grab a cup of coffee and let’s talk.

Hello! I am a licensed clinical social worker helping individuals in the states of Illinois, Texas, and South Carolina. My experience includes working with families who have experienced abuse, neglect, and court issues. I have also worked as a hospice social worker. My role was to support families, provide education related to the end-of-life process, and support families as they prepare to say goodbye to those they love. I have also worked in public schools providing assessments/evaluations for students who might be struggling in an academic setting, preparing IEPs, providing classroom social-emotional education, and individual social work services to students who might be experiencing difficulties with peer relationships, bullying, anger, anxiety, and many other issues that can impact a student's ability to learn and flourish in an educational setting. I have been in private practice for several years, serving children and adults experiencing challenges related to depression, anxiety, relationships, and grief. Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is a major component of my treatment approach. This is an evidence-based treatment approach that provides client-specific tools and interventions. Together, we will identify triggers and learn ways to reduce the physical and mental symptoms you might be experiencing. I was raised in a military family and have lived in multiple states, and while that often came with some adjustments, it also brought so many new opportunities to learn about community, culture, and forge new relationships.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Texas rather than a city like Dallas?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Texas from Houston to Austin! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Texas.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Foster Care/Adoption?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Foster Care/Adoption, is filtering therapists in Texas that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
