New clients continue care with this provider

Hi, I’m Karen Lanxon, a Licensed Professional Counselor and fellow working mom. I help Texas moms create balance, rediscover their purpose, and thrive—without being weighed down by guilt, burnout, or the pressure to do it all. As a mom of three (two young adult sons and a preteen daughter—send prayers! LOL!) and wife to my high school sweetheart, I know how real the juggle is. I’m a people-loving, Jesus-following, joy-seeking woman who thrives on journaling, dancing in the kitchen, serving at church, and laughing until I can’t breathe. But here’s the truth—I’ve been there too. Overwhelmed. Running on empty. Wondering when I stopped recognizing the woman in the mirror. I’ve learned that you can love Jesus AND need therapy. I've learned that rest is holy and that it’s okay to say “no” to make space for the things that light you up. With some gentle nudging from my husband (read: “Karen, you’re doing too much”), I’ve learned the value of setting boundaries and choosing grace over perfection. With over 20 years of experience working with families in foster care, education, and ministry, I’ve always felt drawn to helping others heal and grow—especially moms. As a Christian, wife, and working mom myself, I get it! You don’t have to hold everything together alone. I’m here to walk with you as you grow not just as a parent, but as the whole person God created you to be. Let’s find the rhythm that works for you—one filled with rest, real joy, and room to thrive in every season.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions; you'll be able to share what brought you to therapy and your expectations. I'll also share a little bit more about myself and the approaches I believe may work best for your needs. It will be a collaboration between the both of us. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my favorite parts of being a counselor is connecting with my clients on a deep and genuine level. I’m known among colleagues as "the laughing therapist" because I believe humor can be a powerful tool for healing. I create an atmosphere of transparency, authenticity, and acceptance, where clients feel safe to share their struggles and victories. Building rapport quickly comes naturally to me because I show up as my true self—open, caring, and ready to listen without judgment. My goal is always to make my clients feel seen, valued, and empowered to take the next step in their journey. Whether we’re laughing together or processing through tough emotions, I want every session to be a space where clients can breathe, reflect, and grow. PAYING OUT OF POCKET? I have partnered with Mentaya, a company that helps my clients get reimbursed for their sessions by using out of network benefits. Check with your insurance to see if you have OON benefits or give me a call.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My clients are a lot like you. They’re smart, supportive, driven women who care deeply about their families and want to build a meaningful life—but somewhere along the way, it got hard. By the time they reach out, they’re completely drained. Pulled in a dozen directions, their minds never stop racing. Mornings feel rushed before the day even begins, and the never-ending to-do list just adds to the overwhelm. They’re going through the motions, feeling like they’re barely hanging on. They feel stretched thin—torn between being present at work and being present at home. At work, they worry about their kids. At home, their mind is back on work, or the laundry, or the unread emails. They’re snapping more than they’d like, feeling distant from their spouse, and not nearly as connected to God as they want to be. There’s a constant voice whispering, “You should be doing more.” They look in the mirror and barely recognize themselves. They’ve given so much to their roles as mom, wife, and professional, that there’s nothing left for them. When a rare free moment comes, they feel lost—or worse, guilty for enjoying it. The lack of energy and clarity starts to take a toll on everything. They feel like they’re failing—in motherhood, in marriage, in their walk with God, and in the career they once dreamed of. But here’s what I want you to know: it doesn’t have to stay this way. You can find a rhythm that brings life instead of draining it. You can be a loving, present mom and a woman who honors her OWN dreams and needs. If you’re ready to reclaim balance, protect your peace, and rediscover what lights you up, I’m here to walk with you. You’re not alone anymore.
