I take a holistic perspective with my clients to address the health of body, mind, and spirit. I believe that a solid therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is a crucial part of the healing process, and that techniques and therapy approaches must “fit” the client in order to be effective—there is no “one size fits all” therapy. My goal, as a counselor and therapist, is to deeply understand my client, and when this happens we are able to identify areas of life that need to be changed, and ways of going about doing that. Therapy is a collaborative process between a trained therapist and a client who wants to change.

Hello! Long before I became a licensed social worker, I took on the role of " therapist" to others around me. Helping people has always come naturally to me and is a gift that I credit to my grandmother. I have also experienced my own struggles and challenges which has allowed me to develop compassion towards others. Through some of my own life experiences with grief and loss, traumatic events and feeling ' stuck' I have come to see the benefit of both positive and negative life events. All of those experiences have challenged me and helped me to grow both spiritually and mentally. In some of my most vulnerable times, I appreciated and noticed the life changing power of a listening ear.   I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 14 years of experience in the mental health profession. I am passionate about helping others to find their strengths and advocate for their recovery. I have served in many different roles throughout my professional career and enjoy all of the people that I have been blessed with getting to know. Therapy can be scary, exciting and challenging and I am always eager to walk people through that process.

My name is William Dougherty, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Pennsylvania, providing therapy to clients statewide through telehealth. I specialize in working with adults facing challenges related to anxiety, stress, and addictions. My therapeutic approach incorporates a range of techniques, predominantly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness. With a background in English literature, I bring a decidedly post-modern perspective to my therapeutic approach. One of the concepts I utilize is Narrative Therapy, which encourages and compassionately challenges people to be mindful of the story they’re telling in order to better utilize their strengths. This theory acknowledges the power of language, in that not only does the language we use reflect how we feel, it also affects how we feel. Therefore, the words we choose to use can help to manifest the changes we hope to bring about. The idea is to encourage the use of more positive, as opposed to negative, words while telling our life story. This approach has been remarkably effective in helping clients confront difficulties and bring about lasting and meaningful change.

I have been a therapeutic specialist in the field for over 17 years. My practice is small, isolated and private. I serve adolescents and adults 14 and up. Currently, I am only seeing clients through telehealth, but I am hoping this does not dissuade you. Telehealth may sound impersonal, but in reality, it can be a very convenient, safe and secure way to communicate issues, and I have yet to have any difficulties establishing strong relationships through this medium.

Congratulations! It is great that you have taken the first step in seeking support for your emotional well-being. Perhaps you are struggling with daily stresses, anxiety, overwhelming sadness, depression or past trauma is interfering with your life. Whatever the reason, you are here, which means which mean you are seekng to be the best version of you! I would be honored to continue helping you on this journey. My story is not unique but my journey certainly is. I am a Latina born to teen parents from Puerto Rico. I grew up poor in the inner city. I witnessed my father’s alcohol abuse, DV, divorce and my mother’s depression as she struggled to raise two young daughters while getting an education for herself - all before the age of 8! I survived the only way I knew how - excelling at school. I was fortunate to receive a full scholarship to a prestigious boarding school and studied abroad. This experience had its pros and cons. I saw the world and realized there was much more to life than what I experienced as a child. As an adult, I struggled with forging healthy relationships. I married, had two children. Sadly, I repeated the cycle and married someone that struggled with alcoholism and eventually died as a result. I was left to finish raising two teenagers. While that was hard, the toughest part was when my son was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He is fine now but the ordeal was terrifying. I am now remarried and happily experiencing the joys and challenges of a blended family. My journey has had successes and challenges. I have recognized that all of these experiences helped me grow emotionally. I believe I am stronger and more grounded and a better therapist because of it.

Contacting a therapist can feel intimidating and overwhelming, but I hope you will take a minute (and maybe a few deep breaths) to see how I can help. I specialize in treating children, teens, and young adults. I have been working in the mental health field for over 7 years, including over 4 years in a residential treatment setting treating children struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, ASD, and PTSD, as well as other diagnoses. I utilize TF-CBT, mindfulness, and other modalities in my practice. Thank you for considering me to be a part of your journey!

Have you been wondering if your current challenges are due to past traumatic life events? Do you struggle in relationships? If so, I may be the Therapist for you. I specialize in trauma therapy for teenagers and adults. Many people often think trauma is only caused by violent crimes, acts of physical abuse, or natural disasters. They may also think because trauma happened a long time ago, it does not affect them in the present. These are a few of the myths about trauma. There are many types of traumas such as the sudden or unexpected death of a loved one, bullying, retaliation in the workplace, neglect from parents, infidelity, intimate partner violence, the witnessing of domestic violence and more. If you or your teen is struggling with anxiety, depression, or life stressors, therapy with me can help with positive changes to strengthen self-esteem and confidence. I am trained in EMDR and other trauma therapy approaches. My years of professional experience as a teacher and counselor, along with my lived experiences as a Black person allow me to provide empathetic regard while helping clients from multicultural backgrounds.

TaMara brings a wealth of experience in an unconventional way. As a former owner of a home healthcare company, that primarily provided services to the elderly, TaMara found herself assisting families, particularly adult children, who had to make tough healthcare and financial decisions for their parent(s). She helped families establish goals on how best to support their parents in maintaining dignity and independence while simultaneously identifying the next steps in the event of their parents’ passing. While families had to come to terms with the physical, mental, and/or psychological changes seen in their parents, taking on the parental role was quite emotionally challenging for adult children. TaMara supported the entire family in managing these delicate issues.

You’ve got a lot going on. There are so many demands pulling you in every direction that it can feel impossible to find peace and show up as the best parent, partner, and employee you can be. And, while settling into the same routine has gotten you this far, it’s stopped being sustainable and has started to feel like a strain. If this sounds like you, I’m pleased to be a support for you and your family. I’m Shiloh Johnson. My professional passion is aiding individuals, couples, and families address conflict, open lines of communication, and build better bonds. I had a spiritual calling towards counseling, and seeing my clients reach their goals and grow as people is exactly what God put on my heart to help fulfill. In our sessions, you can expect a blend of evidence-based practices and a warm, person-centered approach to help you find harmony in difficult circumstances. I see a wide range of clients, with many types of presenting problems. I enjoy treating families, especially those with blended family issues, adults struggling with autism, mood disorders, or BPD, and those seeking general guidance. While I’m not currently a fit for those in active addiction or recovery, I am able to support loved ones in navigating this complex relationship. When not in session, I workout, play my guitar, and do home improvement projects.

Seeking counseling can be a overwhelming and anxiety producing experience beyond "the why" of what brought you here. Building a relationship of trust to be vulnerable with a complete stranger is one of the hardest things we can do as humans. Chronic stress from past experiences and intergenerational trauma/stress are often hidden or very present parts of ourselves often creating a tangled web of connection within and attachments with others. In partnership with my clients, I assist them in emerging from within themselves with an increased positive connections, self image, self forgiveness, and a focus on their life goals. When we work together the aim is to assist you in finding balance, clarity and focus for your life goals through a lens of healing.
