I love what I do, and I know why I do it. Since 2007 my focus has been coming along side of people and assisting them with challenges they face in life to become the most authentic and genuine person they were meant to be. In my own journey I've come to accept and appreciate the gifts I've been given, even if they're seemingly unrelated. I love my work as a therapist and I will always be passionate about performing music. How the two coexist within me is the journey I'm on. My focus has been in becoming a better therapist each day ... but I also know I'll never stop playing guitar and performing music, it's part of who I am.
As we meet together, my intention is that you will have "tools", to continue you healing jouney on your own. You will become more self aware, able to self regulate your emotions, and know how to evaluate and reframe your thinking. In a "nut shell," I'm working myself out of a job.
I believe I have respect for each of my clients , believe they have the capacity to learn skills and new ways of thinking that can improve their lives and experience personal growth, achieving the goals they stated for therapy.
I am very passionate about understanding and helping people with the effects of trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, distressful emotions, and broken relationships. This has lead me into further study on how to offer a Trauma-Informed Therapy Approach. One therapy method is EMDR therapy, but other options can be utilized based on your needs. We can talk soon.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a medication-free, nonhypnotic psychotherapeutic procedure. The therapist guides the client in concentrating on a troubling memory or emotion while moving the eyes back and forth by following the therapist's fingers. This eye movement (as well as tactile and auditory stimulation) seems to jump start the brain's ability to process dysfunctional memory information, something that happens naturally during the rapid eye movement (REM) phase of sleep.
CBT focuses on identifying the internal process in all of us that quickly occurs in all of us in every situation we encounter. You will learn to identify the parts of this process; data about the event, interpretation of the event, emotoins generated, urges and choice, and your response. You will then learn how to change faulty interpretations, which then change the emotions that lead to your problematic responses.
CPT utilizes CBT to address traumatic memories, along with using written narratives, and exposure. The goal is to no longer have strong emotional and physiological responses to traumatic painful memories.
As you are ready and open we will include prayer and Biblica principles, teachings, and scripture into our sessions.
An eclectic approach combines aspects of various models of therapy as appropriate to your needs.
