Therapy should be a place where you feel comfortable expressing the real you, not the serious, clinical persona you put on at the doctor’s office. In order to let your guard down, you need a professional that is equally willing to be authentic and open with you. My therapeutic approach is relatable and down-to-earth. Whether you’re navigating one of life’s many transitions (new babies, leaving the nest, job switches) or one of the many couples experiencing some bumps in the road, confusion, or tension, I’ll be holding the space for you to show up exactly how you are. The best part of my job is watching you flourish. After telling me your goals, we’ll collaborate on a treatment plan. I’ll highlight your strengths while also challenging any ways of thinking that keep you stuck. We’ll look at your life from a wide-lens and acknowledge the impact that your past and present stressors have on you and work together to overcome those challenges.

I had to learn a whole new way of living, face my fears, and overcome many barriers and understand how important communication is in building trust and understanding. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with many different people. I've counseled older adults, LGBTQ+, immigrants and refugees from all over the world. Have you been wondering if your current challenges are due to past traumatic life events? Do you struggle in relationships? If so, I may be the Therapist for you. I specialize in trauma therapy for teenagers and adults. Many people often think trauma is only caused by violent crimes, acts of physical abuse, or natural disasters. They may also think because trauma happened a long time ago, it does not affect them in the present. These are a few of the myths about trauma. There are many types of traumas such as the sudden or unexpected death of a loved one, bullying, retaliation in the workplace, neglect from parents, infidelity, intimate partner violence, the witnessing of domestic violence and more. If you or your teen is struggling with anxiety, depression, or life stressors, therapy with me can help with positive changes to strengthen self-esteem and confidence. I am trained in EMDR and other trauma therapy approaches. My years of professional experience as a teacher and counselor, along with my lived experiences as a Black person allow me to provide empathetic regard while helping clients from multicultural backgrounds.

Welcome to our space! In our time together we will address your concerns, as well as explore and highlight your personal strengths and attributes. I feel this is something we all neglect and these can be very empowering and key to working through our daily stressors. My style as a therapist is eclectic and energetic. Therapy can be a potent experience, but I am here to help accommodate the tears, toil, frustration, humor and other emotions that you cannot or may not wish to share with others. The world, our jobs, finances, and other obstacles are some of the many things that can zap our valuable mental and physical energy in a day. Burnout is more real now than ever before. Coming here is a way to recharge yourself so that you can be more present in the most important areas of your life and enjoy it in the process. We work together to develop skills and outlets in which to manage these stressors. You can become the most positive, healthy version of yourself. I welcome the pleasure of working with people from many different cultures and backgrounds, and I am an avid supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community. Since the beginning of the pandemic, I have been working 100 percent virtually. This direction in therapy has allowed me to interact with more people that are not within my geographical location. When a person is in an environment where they feel most comfortable, they are better able to express themselves. My source of empowerment comes from my husband and our enjoyment in caring for our animals. We have a good start on a boring zoo.. (dogs, cats, chickens, fish). They are my reason for working from home. For me, being outdoors and caring for animals is very therapeutic as well as rewarding.

Confidential talk without judgement. Hi, I’m Shakea “Kea” Roper. I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). Do you need someone to talk to that will be understanding, compassionate, and encouraging? If so, you have reached the right therapist. I’m a single mother from the inner city. I’ve been through many struggles. From parenting, to family, to work, and just life. I’ve learned you can always work on yourself to help break cycles/patterns that once held you back. I value honesty and keeping it real. When there is free time, I like to sleep, spend time with family, board games, and of course diamond painting/other crafts. I often work with clients to address anxiety, depression, racing undesirable thoughts, and handling day to day life. My counseling style is active, honest, and straight-forward. Many of my clients have said "Kea is a great listener who isn't afraid to challenge my thoughts." I take the time to care. For me, it's an honor to work together to make progress! One of my favorite quotes is “everything seems impossible until it's done” by Nelson Mandela because I know everyone can push past the uncomfortableness of change to accomplish their goals. I have over 14 years of experience focusing on mood disorders and any symptoms that affect daily life. I can work with clients from the following states: Kansas, Missouri, Utah, North Dakota, and Pennsylvania. I spent my last college years at the University of Missouri – Columbia (MIZZOU) earning a master’s degree in social work (c/o/2009). In my sessions, I focus on using evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (thinking processes), Strengths Based, Brief Therapy, Problem Solving, DBT (mindfulness), Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), and Solution Focused to help clients improve all areas of their life. I am a facilitator of Making Sense of Your Worth (MSoYW). I have worked in various fields of social work such as: working with survivors of abuse, half-way houses, reunification of children with their families, youth homes, and psychiatric hospitals.

Born and raised in the inner city by a single mother and a large extended family, I noticed the needs of those that were mentally or physically diagnosed were often not met. Therefore, I began to inquire about what I needed to do in order to be a part of the solution. I began to work in the field and I have worked in Behavioral/Mental Health for close to 20 years. My experience covers a plethora of ages and diagnosis across many settings. My determination to treat and support those with mental health diagnosis during the pandemic inspired me to perform outpatient therapy via telehealth to adults and adolescents. I specialize in adults 25-55 with various diagnoses but primarily Anxiety, PTSD, trauma and Depression to name a few. I love to utilize CBT, CPT, trauma informed care (TIC) and Motivational Interviewing as treatment modalities.

I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) located in Southwestern Pennsylvania. I hold a master’s degree in professional counseling from Carlow University. My counseling approach is integrative with a focus on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) combined with acceptance and commitment (ACT) therapeutic methods and techniques. Life situations and our response consists of thoughts, emotions and behaviors which lead to an outcome. Hi! People of all walks of life often go through tough times ... and I am here to help. Since 1991, I have worked with individuals across outpatient and inpatient settings, in homes and schools, and now through telehealth. I have assisted people with a variety of challenges--whether related to depression, anxiety and stress, trauma, behavioral control, self-esteem, substance use, life transition, and other issues. I believe in "possibilities thinking", goal setting, active strategizing, and frequent accounting of progress. As a long-term counselor and college psychology professor, I am well acquainted with many therapeutic approaches; however, I am somewhat partial to cognitive-behavioral therapy, relaxation and mindfulness, and solution-focused treatment. I am also formally EMDR-trained and DBT-Certified, both of which are helpful for emotional regulation. There are many therapy options and providers--whomever you select, I wish you the best. Remember--it’s your life, your journey … make the most of it! Sincerely, Rick NOTE: At the current time, my availability will typically be from 7-9 pm on most weekday evenings; and from 8 am-2 pm on most Saturdays and Sundays. I can often free up other times as well, upon request. NOTE: I am accepting only adults, ages 18 to 64 years. NOTE: I am offering only 1:1/individual therapy (no direct family or couples' sessions). NOTE: I do not engage in any court-ordered treatment. NOTE: I am interested in conducting therapy, not doing work-mandated, IEP, or other (e.g., Disability, Drug & Alcohol, or Mental Competency) evaluations. NOTE: Though an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor, I am not a Licensed Psychologist or a Psychiatrist. As such, I cannot conduct psychological testing or prescribe medications.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania with over 24 years of diverse experience in outpatient therapy with people ranging from age 3 to 86. After graduating from Chestnut Hill College in April of 2001, I quickly became experienced in trauma counseling by working with survivors and the victims' families of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Over the course of the last twenty four years I have pursued further training in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and I am a trained member of the Lehigh County "Flight Team" which is a team that travels to county school districts to work with students and staff that have experienced a crisis. In addition, to outpatient therapy, I am a high school school counselor. This position has provided me with opportunities to create programs that support students' mental health concerns, as well as, programs to support parents. Approaches include cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, psychodynamic and rational-emotive strategies that will be tailor made to your needs. In addition to trauma, I have worked with clients on the following: Generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, life changes, parenting issues, body image, divorce, bipolar disorder, depression, work place bullying, self-esteem, empty nest syndrome, phobias, and sexual identity issues. I am a warm, open-minded, non-judgmental, and interactive therapist that believes that a sense of humor is vital in counseling. You can expect active listening, understanding, support, and direction in your counseling journey. It is a privilege to be a counselor and I look forward to working with you!

Hello and welcome to Grow Therapy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have worked in the mental health field since 1998. First, with my bachelors degree and later doing clinical work after earning my master's degree. I believe taking care of our mental health should be as accepted and routine as taking care of our physical health. Therapy can help us to be the best versions of ourselves. Life is a beautiful mess. Sometimes everything seems to be going our way. And other times, it can leave us feeling overwhelmed, confused, and off balance. I would like to offer guidance and support as you navigate those ups and downs.
