I am Nakia, a licensed clinical social worker in Philadelphia, and over the past 13 years I’ve had the privilege of supporting people in both mental health and healthcare settings. That experience taught me that real progress begins when you feel heard and respected.

How are you feeling today?” We’ll go from there, without pressure, judgment, or needing all the answers.

My practice is built around a client-centered approach, so you’re never a passive participant in your care. Together, we’ll set goals that matter to you and work at a pace that feels right. I work with adults and older adults facing difficulties in life including but not limited to depression, anxiety, grief, and the unique challenges many women experience. Sessions are available in person and by telehealth, so support can fit into your life. I’d be glad to hear from you.

First session

Your first session is simply a conversation: “Hi, I’m Nakia. How are you feeling today?” We’ll go from there, without pressure, judgment, or needing all the answers. My hope is that you leave feeling heard and supported, with a clearer path toward healing. If you’re ready, schedule a time to talk!

Strengths

My priority in every session is to understand what matters most to you. We’ll identify your concerns, prioritize them, and set achievable goals. I begin with an easier step so progress can build momentum. I draw from CBT, solution-focused brief therapy, and a strengths-based lens, always starting with truly listening.

Ideal clients

You may be a good fit if you’re an adult or older adult dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, or the pressures many women carry, and you want a therapist who listens first. I work best with people who want to take an active role in their care, set goals that matter to them, and move at a pace that feels right. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. Whether you’re facing a major life change, feeling overwhelmed, or simply feeling stuck, we’ll work together to find a path forward. Sessions are available in person and by telehealth.

Treatment methods

Solution-Focused Brief Treatment

I use solution-focused therapy, an approach that begins with you and your goals. Rather than focusing only on what’s difficult, we’ll explore what you’d like life to look like, the strengths you already bring, and the times things have felt a little easier. From there, we’ll identify small, realistic steps you can take, at a pace that feels right. Because my work is client-centered and collaborative, you help shape the direction of each session. Many people find this approach a helpful fit when coping with depression, anxiety, or grief. Sessions are available in person and by telehealth.
