LPC, 8 years of experience
If you are ready to make positive changes in your life I am here to help with that journey! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Pennsylvania. I received my Masters from Holy Family University in 2016 and I have done my internship working with children and young adults on the Autism spectrum. Since then I have worked with children, teens, and adults in many settings such as individual, couples, family, and group therapy with various goals. Now I focus on individual therapy with the adult population on many different concerns whether that be life style changes, self-esteem, work/life balance, relationships, trauma, stress management, anxiety, depression, etc. My approach to therapy is person centered (you led the way in terms of what you would like to address in therapy). I also like to teach relaxation techniques such as deep breathing and mindfulness as well cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) as a way to help you identify triggers, emotions, thoughts, and behavior so you can learn how to reframe thoughts, manage emotions, and modify behaviors.
I usually start with doing an intake to get you know you and your background. Then we collaborate on creating a treatment plan which is basically a road map: what are we aiming to achieve together in this therapy journey and how I, as your therapist, can help you reach those goals whether that be processing the past, managing emotions, reframing your negative thinking, etc.
I bring a relaxed non-judgmental approach to therapy as well as the knowledge and experience working with many different types of goals/concerns. I make sure you are heard, validated, and supported.
I enjoy working with those who are motivated and open minded to suggestions/techniques to help reach their goals. At the same time I know there are a lot of you out there looking for a safe non-judgmental environment to just openly express themselves and I am here to listen, guide, and support.
We cannot always control situations that happen in our life, but we can learn how to change our perspective therefore it can change our emotions. I teach techniques that will help with altering our view points.
Mindfulness is a great tool to help us feel grounded and focused on the here and now rather than the past and/or future. There are many different variations on mindfulness that I like to explore with clients so they can pick what best fits with their lifestyle.
Everyone has different strengths even if they are hard to identify. I try to help client's discover what they are and encourage them to utilize those strengths to help reach their goals.
Active listening, validation, and encouragement are all very important for a therapist to bring into each and every session. Clients should feel safe and not judged so they are able to express and explore their feelings.
