I am a counselor with experience supporting people facing challenges with mental health, addiction, and dual-diagnosis concerns. I believe that everyone’s journey is unique, so I use a mix of proven therapy approaches to help each person find what works best for them. Whether someone is looking for support with life changes, managing symptoms, or building new skills, I am here to listen and offer guidance in a safe, accepting space. My goal is to help clients discover their strengths and work together toward achieving their personal goals and objectives.
I’m a licensed therapist who works with adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, and grief. I understand how overwhelming it can feel when life shifts in ways you didn’t expect or when you’re trying to hold everything together for everyone else.
In our work together, I provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space where you can be yourself, process what you’re going through, and start to make sense of it. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, confident, and equipped with tools you can actually use in your day-to-day life
My name is Jeffrey, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan, and a Licensed Social Worker and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Ohio. I have also been an ordained Lutheran pastor since 1989. My professional career began as an Associate Pastor in a Lutheran church in northwest Ohio, where I focused on youth ministry, Christian Education, and pastoral counseling. I entered Social Work in 1995 when I began work as a Family Worker in a residential facility for hard to place juvenile offenders, and then worked in a few outpatient counseling agencies providing mental health and substance use disorder services. I have experience working with people of all ages on general mental health issues, such as managing depression and anxiety, and have specialized in the areas of PTSD recovery and domestic violence and sexual abuse victims and offenders. Throughout my counseling career, I have maintained activity in ministry. I was trained in Clinical Pastoral Counseling and also have had training as a Spiritual Director.
My counseling approach is generally non-directive, using a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing in a Solution Focused, Client Centered frame work. I can incorporate spirituality as much or as little as the client desires, from not referencing spirituality at all to fully engaging the spiritual dimension of life. As a caring, empathetic listener, people find it easy to talk with me and be open about what needs attention in their lives.
I look forward to working with you!

Are you grinding through days feeling down, empty, burned out, or like you just can’t keep doing this? Do you feel a heaviness inside that keeps coming back and makes everything harder? Are you so used to bottling up your emotions that you can hardly remember a time when you didn’t just keep everything inside? You might believe deep down that you are broken, that it’s your fault you feel this way, and you will always need to hide who you really are and what you really feel from others. Or maybe life or a relationship has just gotten really hard lately, and you don’t know where to go from here.
