Beginning therapy is a courageous step, and I don’t take that for granted. I'm here to help ensure your journey is meaningful and personalized. My work focuses on supporting individuals through trauma, life transitions, as well as challenges related to anxiety, depression, and grief. I use a collaborative, strengths-based, client-centered approach, customizing each session to fit your specific needs and goals. You’ll find a safe, supportive space where you can truly be yourself whenever you are ready to begin.
Our first session together will be an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We can discuss background information and your current reasons for seeking therapy at this time. I know that the therapeutic process is a journey, and as your guide, it is my goal to keep you as comfortable as possible, especially when navigating difficult territory. If this is your first time in therapy, I know it can feel daunting, but we will take it one step at a time.
I use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help identify, challenge, and reframe thought patterns and internalized self-identity statements. This approach allows you to understand your emotions and actions. Once these tools are learned, they can assist you through future life challenges. I also utilize strategies from dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) to help process intense emotions and past trauma or life stressors. No matter what therapeutic model I utilize, I use a strength-based, client-centered approach, which allows you to focus on your goals for your future. Finally, I can use a Christian counseling approach if that is what is wanted in this space.
Has life thrown at you more than what you want to handle? I work with adolescents, young adults, and women who are managing effects from past trauma, life stressors, transitions, anxiety, depression, and grief. Whether you want to process trauma, enhance coping skills, increase confidence and your self-esteem, or explore your goals, I’ll come alongside you to create a plan that is achievable and encouraging.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the first treatment methods that I specialized in when getting started in this field. I assist clients in understanding how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are all interconnected and how to break the cycle of unhelpful coping strategies by challenging and reframing associated thought patterns when triggered.
I can utilize the eight steps in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) to help individuals who suffer from anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms to process and resolve past memories of trauma or stress. If this treatment approach is wanted, I can teach tapping methods and online eye movement stimulus to help process the target memories.
If desired, I can utilize a Christian counseling approach in addition to the other clinical methods of therapy that I specialize in.
