Hi, I’m Joe. I’ve worked in the mental health field for 27 years across substance use treatment, outpatient care, and hospital settings. I’ve supported individuals and families through crisis, transition, and long-term growth. I work well with young adults, adults, and families who are navigating stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, or major life changes. I also have extensive experience working with men who may struggle to express emotions directly and instead feel stuck in withdrawal, irritability, or self-doubt. As a veteran, I understand the mindset and pressures that can come with military life. Across all of my work, I aim to provide a grounded, steady presence where honesty, insight, and meaningful change can take place.

I'm Dr. Ehsan Adib Shabahang, founder of AtReef Therapy PLLC and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and National Certified Counselor based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I hold a PhD in Psychology with a concentration in social psychology and a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My practice provides integrative, depth-oriented therapy for couples and individuals, conducted entirely through secure telehealth. I work most often with high-achieving adults and couples who function well professionally but find themselves facing patterns that intelligence, success, or effort alone have not resolved: recurring conflict, emotional distance, perfectionism, burnout, anxiety, and questions about identity, meaning, and direction. My clinical approach draws on relational and depth psychology, Jungian psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy, integrated according to each client's needs rather than applied as a fixed protocol. I am also the developer of Self-Reflective Relationship Therapy (SRRT), a research-informed framework that emphasizes self-reflection, emotional responsibility, and translating insight into real behavioral change. Therapy with me is not only about understanding why a pattern exists. Insight matters, but it is not the goal on its own. I focus equally on what changes in your communication, boundaries, emotional regulation, and decisions once that understanding is in place. I see couples working through betrayal, disconnection, and recurring cycles of conflict, and I see individuals navigating anxiety, burnout, identity transitions, and the gap between a capable public self and a more uncertain private one. I also bring particular attention to intercultural relationships and cross-cultural identity, informed by my own doctoral research and background working across cultures. If you are looking for a therapist who will engage directly, take your patterns seriously, and hold you accountable to real change rather than surface-level coping strategies, I would be glad to work with you.

The therapeutic relationship is a collaborative process. Together, we will create an individualized plan based off where you want your life to be in a month, 6 months, and/or a year from now. Hi there — I’m Madison (Gabriel) Long, LCMHC, NCC, a licensed therapist based in North Carolina and South Carolina, and I’m passionate about helping people move from feeling stuck into genuinely living. My training includes trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT), child-centered play therapy (CCPT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), and I’m currently pursuing certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). Whether you’re navigating the unique emotional terrain of pregnancy or postpartum, healing from past trauma, or managing the ever-changing demands of parenting and family life, I’m here with you — through the ups, downs, and in-between. I offer virtual therapy so you can meet with me from wherever you are in NC, right when it works for you. I do this work because I believe growth happens when we feel safe enough to face what we’ve been avoiding, and strong enough to embrace the next step. Not only have I been where many of you are, I’ve also had the privilege to see clients emerge from seasons of pain, parenting chaos, trauma’s shadow, and come into more grounded, more resilient selves — and it is an honor to be part of that process. If you’re ready to start feeling grounded, nourished, and confident again — I’d be honored to walk beside you.

Howdy! My name is Russell and I look forward to meeting you and working together! Taking the step to seek out therapy services can be the biggest hurdle to overcome, yet here you are. You made it! Even exploring options for therapy demonstrates the motivation that you have for positive change in your life. I enjoy taking a collaborative approach to working with all of my clients because you are the expert in your own life and know yourself the best. I am here as a support while you discover more about yourself. I am a LCMHC (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor) with the state of North Carolina. I have a background working with various ages and demographics in a variety of settings. This includes children aged 6+ to pre-teens, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. I have worked in inpatient hospital settings, assisted with Intensive In-Home services for at-risk youth and their families, as well as with clients in traditional office-based environments providing outpatient therapy. My clinical expertise and the most frequent concerns that I help clients with are anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, relationship issues, family issues, and phase of life concerns. I tend to naturally gravitate toward adolescents who are struggling with navigating their lives, however, I enjoy working with all individuals regardless of age or background since life is a struggle for all of us. I tend to take a laid-back, relaxed (but professional) stance when working with clients to make the therapeutic process as welcoming and comfortable as possible!

On paper, your life may look like it’s together. You show up for work, take care of the people around you, and handle your responsibilities. But underneath that, you may be carrying anxiety, burnout, loneliness, relationship stress, or the constant pressure to keep it all together. If you’ve spent years being “the strong one,” therapy can feel unfamiliar or even uncomfortable. My goal is to create a space where you don’t have to perform, have all the answers, or pretend you’re okay. My style is warm, conversational, and direct. I’ll meet you with compassion while also helping you recognize the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Together we’ll build practical tools, increase insight, and create meaningful change that extends beyond our sessions. I enjoy working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem, boundaries, dating and relationships, family dynamics, burnout, and major life transitions. I serve clients throughout North Carolina and Illinois via secure telehealth.

Hi, I’m so glad you’re here. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW/LISW-CP) based in North and South Carolina. I earned my Master’s from Simmons University and have been practicing since 2018. Reaching out for support takes a lot of courage and curiosity—and I want to acknowledge that just by being here, you’re already taking an important step. Life has a way of creating all kinds of transitions. Some can feel like waves of excitement and full of growth and opportunity, while others feel overwhelming, unclear, scary, or just plain hard. I work with people navigating many types of life changes, including (and not limited to): grief and loss, caregiving burnout, medical diagnoses, changes in independence, identity exploration, and retirement. And with those changes often come things like anxiety, depression, loneliness, or feeling disconnected from yourself. My approach is holistic, somatic informed, and person-centered. That means we’ll focus on your strengths, your body and mind, your story, and what matters most to you as we work together to bring more balance, purpose, and joy into your life. I help high-functioning adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or constantly “on.” On the outside, things may look fine—career, responsibilities, relationships—but internally, you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, burnout, or self-doubt that won’t turn off. My clinical background includes training in fast-paced, high-expectation environments where effective, evidence-based care was essential. I use approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based strategies to help you understand patterns, build practical skills, and create meaningful change. I began my clinical work as a Behavioral Health Officer in the U.S. Army, where I worked in high-stress operational settings. While that experience gave me a strong understanding of pressure, burnout, and performance demands, my work today is focused on helping adults in all walks of life navigate similar challenges. My approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded—I aim to create a space where you can be yourself while doing real, meaningful work.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving clients in North Carolina, Ohio, and Alabama. I earned my Master of Social Work degree through the Joint Program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina A&T State University and have spent the past 15 years working in a variety of mental health settings. As a biracial and bicultural woman of White and Native American heritage and an enrolled member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, I understand the importance of culture, identity, belonging, and lived experience in the healing process. I specialize in helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, self-esteem challenges, family conflict, grief, loss, and caregiver burnout. While I enjoy working with adults from all backgrounds, I am especially passionate about supporting women as they build confidence, strengthen boundaries, heal from past experiences, and reconnect with their sense of self. My approach is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up as your authentic self without fear of judgment. I strive to create an environment where clients feel safe, heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. I’m a warm, down-to-earth therapist with more than 15 years of experience helping people navigate anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, major life transitions, grief, burnout, emotional overwhelm, and the seasons of life when everything simply feels like a lot. My background is a little different from the traditional therapy path. I’ve worked in schools, community mental health, and crisis intervention settings. I’ve supported veterans, first responders, survivors of trauma and abuse, neurodivergent individuals, parents, professionals, and people facing some of life’s hardest moments. These experiences have taught me how to stay grounded when things feel chaotic and why it’s so important to see the whole person - not simply a diagnosis or list of symptoms. My style is conversational, collaborative, and practical. I’ll give you space to process, but I’m not a therapist who simply nods and asks, “How does that make you feel?” We’ll get curious about patterns, relationships, boundaries, past experiences, and the things that keep showing up in your life. We’ll explore where those patterns came from, how they affect you now, and what you may want to change. I believe insight is only part of the work. Together, we’ll develop practical strategies you can use outside of therapy to manage anxiety, regulate emotions, improve communication, strengthen relationships, establish boundaries, and navigate difficult seasons. You don’t need to know exactly what you need from therapy before you begin. Sometimes it starts with simply recognizing that something isn’t working anymore. My role isn’t to tell you how to live your life - it’s to help you understand yourself more clearly, build skills and confidence, and create meaningful change.

Having lived through that kind of deep, exhausting stress firsthand, this therapist understands how heavy it can feel when the days start blurring together and you want a change but have no idea where to start. This practice is simply a non-judgmental, warm, and honest space to finally pause and slow down. I’m a licensed therapist who supports women who have spent most of their lives being the strong one, the responsible one, and the over-functioner for everyone else. Many of the women I work with grew up emotionally neglected or learned early on that their value came from how much they could carry. I help them reconnect with themselves, feel grounded again, and build a sense of identity and worthiness that isn’t tied to performance, achievement, or constantly being “the strong one.”

I am a native of North Carolina and started my professional journey by obtaining her BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) and BA in Psychology from UNC-Charlotte and a MSW in 2009 at The University of Georgia. I have worked in a variety or social work, mental health and public education settings and opened my own private practice in 2023. As a therapist, I see my role as guide and partner- not the ultimate authority. Clients can expect honest conversation without judgement, thoughtful questions, laughter, and gentle challenges that encourage growth. The truth is we are all learning and growing, evolving into the best versions of ourselves as we navigate life. I'll meet you on the journey with compassion, curiosity, and accountability.

Hi, my name is Luz, my pronouns are she/her/hers, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I worked as a teacher for over 15 years before making the journey into a community mental health career. I have experience in mobile crisis response, trauma, forensic mental health concerns. To explain who I am as a therapist, I reflect back to my role as an educator. In the classroom, there was a movement for the teacher to be less of a “sage on the stage” (teacher-centered approach) and more of a “guide on the side” (student-centered). To me, therapy is a lesson plan for a learning experience. It's a guide to develop what the client needs to learn in order to cope with whatever barriers are showing up in the client's life, whether that barrier is an internal issue, such as self-image, or how to cope with work stress. My therapeutic perspective is to provide empathetic, non-judgmental, compassionate guidance and support in an atmosphere of respect and safety while allowing clients to be the experts of their lives, much like “a co-pilot, a sous chef, or an assistant manager” of a client-therapist relationship. I use solution-focused elements to help move toward desired goals, cognitive behavioral techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts, and motivational interviewing to help gain understanding and clarity. Outside of traditional therapy, I enjoy the practices of mindfulness, guided meditation, aromatherapy, and Reiki. Finding a therapist that's the right fit can be a challenging task, but taking that first step towards a healthier you is worth it. I look forward to working with you to help break down those barriers and make progress in areas that most matter to you.

We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across North Carolina from Raleigh to Greensboro! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in North Carolina.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Self Esteem, is filtering therapists in North Carolina that work with patients with similar concerns.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
