New to Grow
I’m a warm, down-to-earth therapist who believes that feeling safe, understood, and genuinely supported is the foundation for meaningful change. With nearly 15 years of experience across schools, hospitals, crisis settings, and community-based care, I’ve had the privilege of working with people at many different stages of life—from teens navigating overwhelming emotions to adults facing complex life challenges. My background as both a counselor and school social worker has given me a deep understanding of how early experiences, family dynamics, and life transitions shape who we are. I’ve supported students and families through anxiety, emotional struggles, and difficult situations, and I carry that same patience, empathy, and advocacy into my work with all clients. I’ve also worked in high-intensity environments—including crisis settings, alongside law enforcement, in hospitals, and with veterans, survivors of trauma and domestic violence, and individuals in eating disorder treatment. Because of this, I’m comfortable supporting clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to start. You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin. In our work together, I focus on creating a space where you can be yourself without fear of judgment. I balance practical tools and coping strategies with deeper exploration, helping you not only manage what you’re going through, but also understand it. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to you—whether you’re looking for structure, insight, or simply a place to feel heard. Reaching out for therapy can be hard, but you don’t have to do it alone. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, more confident, and more in control of your life.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, so my goal in our first session is to help you feel as comfortable and supported as possible. We’ll begin by getting to know each other—I’ll ask some questions about what brought you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you’re hoping to get out of our work together. There’s no pressure to share everything all at once. You can go at your own pace, and we’ll focus on what feels most important to you right now. I’ll also take time to answer any questions you have about the therapy process so you know what to expect moving forward. Together, we’ll start identifying your goals and what support might look like for you. If helpful, I may introduce a few initial coping strategies or tools you can begin using right away, especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed. Most importantly, the first session is about creating a space where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself. This is your time, and we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you.
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel truly heard and understood. I know that opening up can be difficult, especially when you’ve been carrying a lot on your own, and I work to build trust at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I also bring a high level of experience and calmness to my work. With nearly 15 years in crisis settings, hospitals, schools, and community-based roles, I’m comfortable supporting clients through intense emotions, trauma, and complex life situations. I’m able to stay grounded and help you feel more stable and in control, even during overwhelming moments. Another strength is my ability to balance practical tools with deeper understanding. I don’t just help you talk through what’s going on—I also provide concrete strategies you can use in your daily life, while helping you gain insight into patterns, relationships, and past experiences that may be impacting you. Finally, I take a flexible, individualized approach. Every client is different, and I tailor therapy to your needs, whether you’re looking for structure, coping skills, emotional support, or deeper personal growth. My goal is to meet you where you are and help you move forward in a way that feels meaningful and sustainable.
My ideal client is an adolescent or adult who is seeking support in navigating life’s challenges and is open to growth, healing, and self-exploration. I enjoy working with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and self-esteem concerns, as well as those processing grief, life transitions, or relationship difficulties. I have a strong interest in supporting neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD and autism, and I strive to provide an affirming, structured, and strengths-based approach tailored to their unique needs. I also value working with LGBTQ+ individuals and aim to create a safe, inclusive, and identity-affirming therapeutic space. Additionally, I work well with veterans, active-duty military members, and individuals impacted by domestic violence, offering trauma-informed care that prioritizes safety, empowerment, and resilience. I am particularly passionate about supporting women’s issues, including identity, boundaries, and relational dynamics. Overall, my ideal client is someone who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure, but is willing to engage in the therapeutic process to build insight, develop coping skills, and move toward a more balanced and meaningful life.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I regularly utilize CBT to help clients identify and challenge maladaptive thought patterns contributing to anxiety, depression, and low self-worth. I guide clients in developing cognitive restructuring skills, behavioral activation strategies, and practical coping tools to improve daily functioning.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate DBT skills to support clients struggling with emotional dysregulation, impulsivity, and interpersonal conflict. My work includes teaching distress tolerance, emotion regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness skills, particularly with clients presenting with trauma histories or personality disorder traits.
Trauma Informed Care
I consistently practice from a trauma-informed lens, ensuring that treatment prioritizes safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment. I have experience helping clients process complex trauma, including childhood abuse, relational trauma, and loss, while pacing interventions to avoid re-traumatization.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I integrate mindfulness techniques to help clients increase awareness of thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations. These interventions are used to reduce reactivity, improve emotional regulation, and support grounding during periods of distress.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I incorporate solution-focused strategies to help clients identify strengths, set achievable goals, and build on existing successes. This approach is particularly helpful in promoting motivation and forward movement in treatment.
