I'm Dr. Ehsan Adib Shabahang, founder of AtReef Therapy PLLC and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and National Certified Counselor based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I hold a PhD in Psychology with a concentration in social psychology and a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My practice provides integrative, depth-oriented therapy for couples and individuals, conducted entirely through secure telehealth. I work most often with high-achieving adults and couples who function well professionally but find themselves facing patterns that intelligence, success, or effort alone have not resolved: recurring conflict, emotional distance, perfectionism, burnout, anxiety, and questions about identity, meaning, and direction. My clinical approach draws on relational and depth psychology, Jungian psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy, integrated according to each client's needs rather than applied as a fixed protocol. I am also the developer of Self-Reflective Relationship Therapy (SRRT), a research-informed framework that emphasizes self-reflection, emotional responsibility, and translating insight into real behavioral change. Therapy with me is not only about understanding why a pattern exists. Insight matters, but it is not the goal on its own. I focus equally on what changes in your communication, boundaries, emotional regulation, and decisions once that understanding is in place. I see couples working through betrayal, disconnection, and recurring cycles of conflict, and I see individuals navigating anxiety, burnout, identity transitions, and the gap between a capable public self and a more uncertain private one. I also bring particular attention to intercultural relationships and cross-cultural identity, informed by my own doctoral research and background working across cultures. If you are looking for a therapist who will engage directly, take your patterns seriously, and hold you accountable to real change rather than surface-level coping strategies, I would be glad to work with you.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that something isn't OK right now. That something might be new, or it might have been around a long time. You might be able to describe it perfectly, or you might just feel off without knowing why. Either way — you're here, and that's the only thing that matters right now. I start from wherever you are. No assumptions, no judgments, no one-size-fits-all approach. Just a genuine desire to understand you — what's brought you here, what you're carrying, and what you're hoping for. Therapy with me — whether you're coming alone or with a partner — tends to be honest and occasionally even a little lighthearted. The human experience isn't black and white, and neither is the work we'll do together. What stays consistent is that you'll have a space that belongs to you, where nothing you say or feel changes how I show up for you. For couples, that space belongs to both of you equally. I don't take sides. What I do is help you see the pattern you're both caught in — because most of the time it's the cycle doing the damage, not each other. When that shifts, something else becomes possible. No matter what it is you are navigating — depression, relationships, identity, or the gap between how you show up and how you actually feel inside — you don't have to have it figured out to reach out.

I’m a licensed clinical social worker who provides a supportive, collaborative, and trauma-informed space for clients to better understand themselves and create meaningful change. I believe therapy works best when it feels safe, respectful, and individualized, not rushed or one-size-fits-all. My role is to meet you where you are, help you make sense of your experiences, and support you in building skills and insight that translate into real-life change. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed care and informed by evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment-based therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Child–Parent Psychotherapy when working with children and families. In practice, this means we may focus on understanding patterns between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; strengthening emotional regulation and coping skills; exploring how past relationships impact present ones; clarifying values; or gently processing difficult experiences at a pace that feels manageable. I place a strong emphasis on collaboration and choice, ensuring you remain an active participant in your care. I work with adults, children, adolescents, and caregivers navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, and emotional overwhelm. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure why certain patterns keep repeating despite their best efforts. Together, we work to increase clarity, self-compassion, and confidence while developing practical tools you can use outside of sessions. Above all, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward in a way that feels authentic, sustainable, and aligned with your values.

My practice over the past 30 years as an LCMHC has allowed me to help people of diverse backgrounds overcome a variety of life's challenges. I help people by meeting with them, learning about their problems and discovering ways for them to feel more at ease. The most common issues that I help people with involve their moods (for example sadness, worrying, anger or stress) and with their relationships. All types of people come to see me; people just like you who have hit a bump in the road and want to help themselves feel better again. I've focused on adults and couples struggling with anxiety, depression, controlling anger, family conflict, substance abuse, and behavioral issues. I have several years of experience treating individuals, families, and adolescents using a holistic, empathic, and trauma-informed approach. Watching friends and family struggle with mental health and substance abuse issues fueled my passion for helping those who struggle with these difficulties from a place of understanding, patience, and empathy. I received a BA in psychology first, which led to obtaining a substance abuse certificate. I gained experience working with families and individuals and, after some time, I was ready to further my education and obtained a Master of Social Work. This helped me expand my clinical skills and learn more targeted therapy modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT, psychoanalytical care, and art therapy. I found these approaches are a great synthesis of neuroscience, trauma, and creativity.

Hi, I'm Matthew, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and the founder of Cardinal Counseling Connection. I'm trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and listed with ICEEFT, and most of my work centers on helping men build a stronger, more honest relationship with themselves and the people they love. Many of the men I work with came to therapy because something wasn't working,;maybe it's hard to put feelings into words, relationships feel harder than they should, or old coping strategies (working more, shutting down, numbing out) have started costing more than they help. My work is about helping you find your voice again: naming what you actually feel, understanding where old patterns come from, and learning to connect — with yourself first, then with the people around you. I come to this work personally as well as professionally. Some of my own early experiences left me feeling like I had to manage everything alone, and I know what it costs to carry that. That's part of why I care so much about helping men find a different way; one where connection, not control, is the goal. In session, I bring both structure and warmth. I'll ask real questions, name patterns you might not see on your own, and give you tools you can actually use. The work itself is collaborative, not clinical box-checking. My goal isn't just symptom relief; it's helping you build the kind of internal and relational life that feels sustainable and real. If you're a man who's tired of white-knuckling it alone and ready to actually understand yourself, I'd be glad to work with you.

Having been through a lot in my teenage years into adulthood, where I learned self-confidence, I have found that if I had someone to help me work through issues of stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and many other life factors I would have been successful sooner. I have experience in diverse cultures where I have found I learn just as much from the people around me as they learn from me. Having an open mind and listening to my clients helps me to relate and understand them and develop a treatment plan or plan of action with them that makes them feel comfortable. I have an extensive history helping individuals understand their career path, educational needs, and learning life skills. I have a passion for mental health because of the family history with depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, and substance abuse, and it drives me to want to help others. I believe it is important to empower individuals, couples, and families towards a sense of normalcy and autonomy, and developing skills to meet the goals they have for their lives. Taking a holistic approach to counseling I take into consideration the whole person and stive to build a good working relationship with each client to better understand them, helping them feel at ease at a time that may feel stressful and awkward, and helping them navigate life's challenges. In my free time I like to go to the beach, take a walk in nature, and enjoy spending time with my children and 2 dogs. I also enjoy learning, reading, and going to amusement parks when time allows.

As a licensed professional counselor for over a decade, I consider it an honor to create a sacred space with a client in the therapeutic relationship. As clients are able to unravel developmental traumas, process relational difficulties, and dispel long-held cognitive beliefs, true healing emerges within. Over the years, I have found that I am most helpful in the treatment of trauma, building healthy attachments between people, and using a number of well-researched methods for more complex issues related to emotional development. In my free time, I love to visit the shores of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina with my husband of 31 years and our mini-Australian Shepherd, Brodie . I was raised in Memphis, TN and attended college in Nashville, TN where I received a BS degree. I got married while in college. We moved to Raleigh, NC after graduation. We've been married over 40 years. We have eight adopted children. I began working for the USPS once we moved to NC. After working there for 10 years, I realized that I wanted to change careers and fulfill the dream of helping others in a more practical way. I took a break from work and obtained a MA in Counseling. After receiving my LPC license, I worked in various settings within the counseling field. I have worked in Child Protective Services, worked for a couple of mental health clinics, held a private practice, worked in crisis intervention for 10 years in a hospital setting, returned to the clinic setting, and have once again opened a private practice. I am licensed as a LCMHC and LCAS in NC.

I’m a therapist who believes meaningful change comes from a combination of insight, accountability, and consistent action. My work is shaped not only by clinical training, but by a grounded understanding of adversity, resilience, and what it takes to rebuild and move forward. I work with individuals and couples who feel stuck in patterns—whether related to trauma, stress, relationships, or major life transitions—and are ready to create something more stable and intentional. Many of my clients are navigating challenges such as emotional reactivity, impulsive behaviors, or difficulty maintaining consistency in their lives. My approach is direct, practical, and focused on helping you develop the tools needed for real, lasting change. I use evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing to support emotional regulation, stronger decision-making, and long-term growth. I have a particular interest in working with individuals navigating recovery, reentry, and significant life rebuilding, while remaining open to anyone seeking clarity, stability, and a more grounded way of living.

Life can feel heavy sometimes — especially when you’re the one everyone depends on. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, burnout, trauma, grief, relationship stress, or just feeling emotionally drained, therapy can help you slow down, process what’s going on, and learn healthier ways to cope. My style is warm, supportive, honest, and down-to-earth. I believe therapy should feel like a real conversation, not like you’re being analyzed under a microscope. We’ll laugh when we can, be real about what’s hard, and work together to help you feel more grounded, confident, and emotionally healthy. Hi, I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, burnout, grief, emotional overwhelm, and major life stressors. I became a therapist because I genuinely care about helping people feel less alone during difficult seasons of life. I’ve always been drawn to understanding people, supporting others through challenges, and helping individuals recognize that healing and growth are possible — even when life feels overwhelming. I believe everyone deserves a space where they can be honest, supported, and reminded that they do not have to carry everything by themselves. Many of my clients are people who are used to holding everything together for everyone else while quietly struggling themselves. They’re exhausted, overthinking everything, emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in survival mode, or feeling disconnected from who they used to be. My therapy style is warm, supportive, relatable, and direct. I’m not the therapist that just nods the entire session while you spiral alone. I believe therapy should be a safe space where you feel genuinely comfortable being honest — without fear of judgment — while also learning practical tools that help in real life.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.
