I’m DeNea and I support adult women as they heal from the effects of childhood parentification, abuse, and neglect, sexual trauma, domestic violence and difficult relationships. I help women build healthier connections and achieve the relationships they desire. I use evidenced-based treatment modalities (IFS, EMDR, & ACT) that help to heal root causes, create lasting change and give clients a sense of freedom over their pasts.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, I want to learn about you. We’ll explore your history and what brings you to therapy and develop a plan to help you accomplish your goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength is that I’ve devoted my career to supporting women heal from trauma and difficult origins. My clients come to me because they’ve found someone who truly understands the depth of their experiences. I believe that therapy should provide a safe and validating space for all of you, so in our sessions, we focus on more than just conversation; we integrate the mind and body to help you rediscover a sense of wholeness.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with women who are healing. My clients are eager to find purpose and are longing to rediscover a since of self-love and hope. I enjoy helping women navigate and achieve relationships they deserve to have.

My treatment methods

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS is based on the idea that each person has a core Self that is naturally calm, compassionate, and capable of healing. However, due to past experiences, they also develop protective parts that help them cope with difficult emotions and wounded parts that carry pain from childhood. I guide clients to recognize and connect with these different parts, helping them shift from self-criticism or avoidance to self-compassion and understanding. This process allows my clients to access their core Self and begin healing.

EMDR

EMDR is based on the idea that unprocessed traumatic memories can cause emotional distress and negative self-perceptions, such as “I’m not enough,” “I have to take care of everyone,” or “My needs don’t matter.” These beliefs drive patterns like people-pleasing, over-functioning, or avoiding emotional intimacy. Through EMDR, I guide my clients in reprocessing these painful memories so they no longer hold emotional power over them. This is done through bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or auditory tones), which helps the brain integrate the memory in a healthier way.
