Hi, I’m Joe. I’ve worked in the mental health field for 27 years across substance use treatment, outpatient care, and hospital settings. I’ve supported individuals and families through crisis, transition, and long-term growth. I work well with young adults, adults, and families who are navigating stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, or major life changes. I also have extensive experience working with men who may struggle to express emotions directly and instead feel stuck in withdrawal, irritability, or self-doubt. As a veteran, I understand the mindset and pressures that can come with military life. Across all of my work, I aim to provide a grounded, steady presence where honesty, insight, and meaningful change can take place.

I'm Dr. Ehsan Adib Shabahang, founder of AtReef Therapy PLLC and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and National Certified Counselor based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I hold a PhD in Psychology with a concentration in social psychology and a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My practice provides integrative, depth-oriented therapy for couples and individuals, conducted entirely through secure telehealth. I work most often with high-achieving adults and couples who function well professionally but find themselves facing patterns that intelligence, success, or effort alone have not resolved: recurring conflict, emotional distance, perfectionism, burnout, anxiety, and questions about identity, meaning, and direction. My clinical approach draws on relational and depth psychology, Jungian psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy, integrated according to each client's needs rather than applied as a fixed protocol. I am also the developer of Self-Reflective Relationship Therapy (SRRT), a research-informed framework that emphasizes self-reflection, emotional responsibility, and translating insight into real behavioral change. Therapy with me is not only about understanding why a pattern exists. Insight matters, but it is not the goal on its own. I focus equally on what changes in your communication, boundaries, emotional regulation, and decisions once that understanding is in place. I see couples working through betrayal, disconnection, and recurring cycles of conflict, and I see individuals navigating anxiety, burnout, identity transitions, and the gap between a capable public self and a more uncertain private one. I also bring particular attention to intercultural relationships and cross-cultural identity, informed by my own doctoral research and background working across cultures. If you are looking for a therapist who will engage directly, take your patterns seriously, and hold you accountable to real change rather than surface-level coping strategies, I would be glad to work with you.

I’m a warm, down-to-earth therapist with more than 15 years of experience helping people navigate anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, major life transitions, grief, burnout, emotional overwhelm, and the seasons of life when everything simply feels like a lot. My background is a little different from the traditional therapy path. I’ve worked in schools, community mental health, and crisis intervention settings. I’ve supported veterans, first responders, survivors of trauma and abuse, neurodivergent individuals, parents, professionals, and people facing some of life’s hardest moments. These experiences have taught me how to stay grounded when things feel chaotic and why it’s so important to see the whole person - not simply a diagnosis or list of symptoms. My style is conversational, collaborative, and practical. I’ll give you space to process, but I’m not a therapist who simply nods and asks, “How does that make you feel?” We’ll get curious about patterns, relationships, boundaries, past experiences, and the things that keep showing up in your life. We’ll explore where those patterns came from, how they affect you now, and what you may want to change. I believe insight is only part of the work. Together, we’ll develop practical strategies you can use outside of therapy to manage anxiety, regulate emotions, improve communication, strengthen relationships, establish boundaries, and navigate difficult seasons. You don’t need to know exactly what you need from therapy before you begin. Sometimes it starts with simply recognizing that something isn’t working anymore. My role isn’t to tell you how to live your life - it’s to help you understand yourself more clearly, build skills and confidence, and create meaningful change.

I’m a licensed clinical social worker who provides a supportive, collaborative, and trauma-informed space for clients to better understand themselves and create meaningful change. I believe therapy works best when it feels safe, respectful, and individualized, not rushed or one-size-fits-all. My role is to meet you where you are, help you make sense of your experiences, and support you in building skills and insight that translate into real-life change. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed care and informed by evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment-based therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Child–Parent Psychotherapy when working with children and families. In practice, this means we may focus on understanding patterns between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; strengthening emotional regulation and coping skills; exploring how past relationships impact present ones; clarifying values; or gently processing difficult experiences at a pace that feels manageable. I place a strong emphasis on collaboration and choice, ensuring you remain an active participant in your care. I work with adults, children, adolescents, and caregivers navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, and emotional overwhelm. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure why certain patterns keep repeating despite their best efforts. Together, we work to increase clarity, self-compassion, and confidence while developing practical tools you can use outside of sessions. Above all, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward in a way that feels authentic, sustainable, and aligned with your values.

With over 11 years of clinical experience, I have had the privilege of working across a broad spectrum of mental health settings. For the past eight years, I have supported active-duty service members and their families in an outpatient setting, providing trauma-informed care rooted in evidence-based practices. Prior to this, I worked in an inpatient facility with individuals experiencing persistent and severe mental illness. Currently, I also facilitate group therapy for adolescents in an acute inpatient setting, offering crisis stabilization and psychoeducation. I conceptualize treatment through the lens of Relational Frame Theory and approach therapy from a systemic perspective, always considering the broader relational and environmental factors impacting my clients. I strongly value mindfulness as both a personal and professional practice, integrating it regularly into treatment to support emotional regulation and present-moment awareness. Outside of my clinical work, I’ve been happily married for 20 years and am the proud parent of two teenage children. I share my home with two beloved dogs, a leopard gecko, and mud turtle. In my free time, I enjoy baking, crocheting, reading, and spending time at the beach—places and activities that help me stay grounded and connected.

I have several years of experience treating individuals, families, and adolescents using a holistic, empathic, and trauma-informed approach. Watching friends and family struggle with mental health and substance abuse issues fueled my passion for helping those who struggle with these difficulties from a place of understanding, patience, and empathy. I received a BA in psychology first, which led to obtaining a substance abuse certificate. I gained experience working with families and individuals and, after some time, I was ready to further my education and obtained a Master of Social Work. This helped me expand my clinical skills and learn more targeted therapy modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT, psychoanalytical care, and art therapy. I found these approaches are a great synthesis of neuroscience, trauma, and creativity.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of experience supporting women through the complexities of life, relationships, and personal growth. In my practice, I work with professional women navigating anxiety, stress, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the unique pressures that often come with being a woman who is expected to have it all together. My work is rooted in helping women break free from the expectations of others—and the curated expectations created by social media—and reconnect with what feels authentic to them. My approach is direct, supportive, and intentional. Together, we explore the patterns, beliefs, and expectations that may be keeping you stuck and what it could look like to move through life with greater confidence, clarity, and intention. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Hello! My name is Clover and I am a licensed clinical therapist and addiction specialist in the state of North Carolina. I look forward to the opportunity of learning and working together as part of our therapeutic process. I enjoy working with folks who are gender diverse and members of the LGBTQIA+ community who experience unique stressors and conflicts with their day-to-day lives. I also love working with folks who struggle with substance use either in addition to other life stressors or on its own especially in the context of substance use disorders being highly stigmatized. I focus on substance use treatment approaches with a functionality mindset to work on setting reasonable goals and expectations during the clinical process. I started my clinical work with addiction and grew as a therapist and person to see people from a whole-person perspective. Our difficulties, conflicts, our stressors do not define us for who we are and when they prevent or delay us from becoming our authentic selves is where the therapeutic process blossoms. I believe everybody is always in a constant process of growing into our best selves and I hope to have the opportunity to work with you along this process too.

Many of my clients are women and teen girls (12 and up) who are high-functioning on the outside but feel exhausted, anxious, or disconnected on the inside. You may be managing work, school, relationships, or caregiving while internally feeling overwhelmed, stuck in overthinking, or like you’re running on empty. If you’re someone who’s tried to “figure it out” on your own or learned coping skills in therapy before but still find yourself falling into the same patterns, you’re not alone. Many of the women I work with come in feeling frustrated that insight hasn’t translated into real change. In our work together, we focus on getting to the root of what’s keeping you stuck in cycles like burnout, over-functioning, people-pleasing, and difficulty setting boundaries. Instead of just managing symptoms, we work to understand and shift what’s driving them so the change actually lasts. A key part of this process involves working with your nervous system—not just your thoughts. You may already understand what’s going on logically, but still feel it in your body and day-to-day life. We focus on helping your system feel safer, more grounded, and less reactive so you can begin to break those automatic cycles and respond in new ways. I integrate EMDR, somatic approaches, attachment-based therapy, TF-CBT, and experiential work to support both emotional processing and practical change. The goal is to help you move from insight into real, sustainable shifts in how you feel, relate, and show up in your life. Sessions are collaborative and paced so you don’t feel rushed or overwhelmed. The goal is to help you feel more grounded, emotionally steady, and connected to yourself and your relationships. I also offer trauma intensives for self-pay clients who want deeper, focused work in a shorter period of time.

Having been through a lot in my teenage years into adulthood, where I learned self-confidence, I have found that if I had someone to help me work through issues of stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and many other life factors I would have been successful sooner. I have experience in diverse cultures where I have found I learn just as much from the people around me as they learn from me. Having an open mind and listening to my clients helps me to relate and understand them and develop a treatment plan or plan of action with them that makes them feel comfortable. I have an extensive history helping individuals understand their career path, educational needs, and learning life skills. I have a passion for mental health because of the family history with depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, and substance abuse, and it drives me to want to help others. I believe it is important to empower individuals, couples, and families towards a sense of normalcy and autonomy, and developing skills to meet the goals they have for their lives. Taking a holistic approach to counseling I take into consideration the whole person and stive to build a good working relationship with each client to better understand them, helping them feel at ease at a time that may feel stressful and awkward, and helping them navigate life's challenges. In my free time I like to go to the beach, take a walk in nature, and enjoy spending time with my children and 2 dogs. I also enjoy learning, reading, and going to amusement parks when time allows.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who works with adults and young adults seeking supportive space to better understand themselves and navigate life’s challenges. I work with anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, relationship difficulties, and periods of transition or uncertainty. Whether navigating college, early adulthood, career decisions, changing relationships, or the next chapter of life, therapy can help clients gain perspective, clarify what matters and move forward with confidence. I also draw on my past experience working with children and teens to help parents strengthen connection and communication. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and engaged, while also being direct when helpful. I believe therapy can be meaningful and challenging without always feeling heavy and I often incorporate appropriate humor, warmth, and a genuine sense of humanity into our work. I use an integrative model that incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Our work often focuses on clarifying values, building coping strategies, improving relationships and making changes that feel realistic. I strive to provide a non-judgmental environment where clients feel understood and respected while developing tools they can use in their everyday lives. Hi! I am a dually licensed therapist in both Florida and North Carolina. I began my education later in my adult life, and believed I had arrived late to the game. But I found that life experience paired with my own belief system, allowed me the opportunity to view life's challenges through a unique lens, and because of that I am non-judgmental and empathetic towards people who are struggling with the hurts life has dealt them. I believe in using a collaborative approach in helping my clients. I use evidence-based practices, including CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, and Motivational Therapy, as well as Christian Counseling. I am supportive, yet direct with empathy, compassion and help you address the barriers in your life that are causing you pain and distress.

Trauma has haunted you for years. It’s left you with nightmares and flashbacks. It’s caused you to distrust others and push them away. It’s made you feel broken and hopeless. You’ve tried everything you can think of to shed the weight of the past. You’ve read the books, tried the life hacks… You may have even talked to a therapist. But now, you’re out of options. Nothing has helped you transition from being a survivor to someone who’s truly alive. And you’re all talked out. No matter how many times you tell your story, nothing changes. The search for relief is exhausting. This might be your last shot at getting help.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
