Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in North Carolina. I received my MSW from the JMSW program at UNCG and NCAT and have been practicing for close to six years with a variety of populations. I have experience working with clients with both mental health and/or substance use from age 5 to those 65+. I enjoy helping people become the best version of themself that they can be.
In the first session, clients can expect for me to get to know more about them and they get to know more about me to make sure we are a good fit. We will dip a toe into what brought you to therapy so that we can create goals to work toward together.
My greatest strengths as a provider are the ability to relate and empathize with clients as well as making them feel heard and validated. I try to keep therapy as laid back as possible so that clients can feel comfortable talking with me about the difficulties they are facing.
I love working with people experiencing depression and/or anxiety build the skills they need to live life to the fullest.
CBT is a method I have used since I began practicing. I use this to help clients learn the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how to change them within the cycle.
While I am not DBT certified, I use many DBT skills in my practice to help clients with interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotion regulation. I have completed multiple DBT trainings for effective use of the methods and have used these skills for over five years.
I use solution focused brief treatment to help clients who are experiencing a mild to moderate level of disfunction and can quickly resolve any stressors. This method gets straight to business with addressing stress in the client's life and finding a solution. Paired with person-centered and strength-based, I allow the client to decide what they feel they want to address and use their current strengths to help them meet their goals.
I use this treatment method throughout my practice by letting my client's guide what they want to focus on and where the session goes. I want my clients to get what they feel they need from their session and guiding it myself can get in the way of getting those needs met.
I use strength-based methods to help my clients identify what they already excel in and use those things to build a foundation for healing. It is amazing to witness a client identify their strengths when they initially felt they did not have any. We all have things we are good at and we can use those strengths to overcome challenges in life.
