(she/her)
I am a native North Carolinian, raised on a farm. I find enjoyment in seeing the moment when clients in my care get it and understand themselves better. I consider myself a behaviorist at heart with a passion for utilizing DBT and working with those suffering from emotional dysregulation, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. I believe that everyone is capable of achieving a life worth living and loving. My areas of passion and expertise are in personality disorders, depression and neurodivergence.
Clients who work with me will find joy after suffering and realize setbacks are not the end of your story, but rather an opportunity for a new beginning. You will take away from each session something new about yourself and skills to achieve your valued goals in life.
My greatest strengths are radical authenticity and irreverence. I prefer to use humor in sessions and can recognize a need for connection even when not verbalized. I aim to create a sense of equity, safety and support for all.
I love to help folks find their authentic selves and live unapologetically. My experience spans elementary age to mid-life and everything in between. If you are quirky, unique and yearn for skills and stability, I'm the provider for you. Therapy is a collaborative process and I have expectations to for clients to be active participants in their recovery. I enjoy working with teens, women, multicultural issues and personality disorders. I have specialized training in working with individuals who have a history of self-harm, suicidal ideation and hospitalization.
I am a Behavior Tech Intensively-Trained DBT therapist of 8 years. I use this treatment intervention daily to assist with managing symptoms of chronic emotional dysregulation and trauma.
I utilize cognitive behavior therapy to reduce the prevalence of anxiety and depression related to cognitive dissonance and thinking errors.
I am EMDR trained with a focus on generational and cultural trauma. I have additional training in using EMDR to support clients who are neurodivergent as well as with children 10 and up.
I am fully trained in ERP to treat symptoms of phobias, severe anxiety, OCD and agoraphobia with or without panic symptoms.
I approach all cases with a trauma informed lens. I believe that healing from trauma is possible with adequate support, validation and coping skills. I have specialized training for working with individuals who are neurodivergent, members of the LGBTQIA+ and those of multicultural backgrounds. I operate from an anti-racist, social justice-focused lens when addressing trauma.
