Hi there - I’m Pete Cianci, LCSW, a licensed psychotherapist based in North Carolina. I’m so glad you’re here. I work with adults 18+ and I strongly believe in using evidence-based practices to help people feel better as quickly as possible. I leverage cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT) to help people reduce their symptoms and improve their own lives. The way therapy works doesn't have to be a mystery. I believe psychoeducation and concrete skill-building are crucial parts of getting better.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
I try to take a fun, but direct approach to therapy. Our first session will be mostly assessment where I learn about your background and what's bringing you to therapy. From there we'll define clear goals and develop a treatment plan together. This will be a partnership, so we'll check in frequently on how therapy is going so we can adjust as needed.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I have worked with a broad range of people from different backgrounds, with different social situations, and different presenting issues. I am always 100% transparent and genuine in my clinical work. I stick to what has been proven to work in the research, but I'm not robotic. I believe that therapy is a true partnership where we can both bring our best intentions to get the best outcomes.

If you might be struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, trauma / PTSD, obsessions / OCD, relationship problems, gambling, substance use or another issue - I believe I can help. No one wants to be in therapy forever, and most people don't want to be in therapy at all. That's why my goal is to help you "become your own therapist" so you can get back to the life you want to live.
