I believe that the stories we tell ourselves about who we are hold incredible power—and that sometimes, the most courageous thing we can do is rewrite those stories with a pen dipped in kindness. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC), my work is deeply rooted in mindfulness and self-compassion frameworks. I don't view therapy as a process of 'fixing' what is broken, but rather as an invitation to meet yourself right where you are. Together, we will work to quiet the inner critic and cultivate a genuine, lasting friendship with yourself.

Hello, My name is Jennifer Bardon, a LCSW certified professional in the state of Michigan. Social work and behavioral therapy are my passions because helping others is truly what motivates and rewards me the most. Since receiving a BSW (Bachelors, Social Work) and MSW (Masters, Social Work) from Wayne State University, Detroit, nearly 7 years ago, I have been developing and practicing methods to better understand the human condition and how to modify it to help others through personal conflicts and struggles from insecurities, anxiety, depression, self esteem and so much more. Incorporating mindfulness techniques to assist clients with centering themselves, and focusing on the present, as well as challenging negative thoughts, is one of my many strengths. My focus is "You" the individual, and I encourage all my clients to help assist in utilizing and engaging in the recommended treatments thus giving them needed satisfaction in their own successes. Note: Evenings and weekends are open for clients who have a busy work week or find those times most convenient. The great poet Rumi wrote "out beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing, there is a field. I'll meet you there." That field is a space where calm, love and forgiveness exist. There is no judgement, only acceptance here. And in that soul space you are free to find those fragments of you that are lost, and begin to piece them back together. I'm licensed in both Florida and Michigan. As a licensed clinical therapist and licensed substance abuse counselor, I have experience running very powerful substance abuse and co-occurring groups. Prior to that, I worked as a social worker in Flint, Michigan for many years as a therapist, caseworker and in crisis intervention. My experiences have given me such a rich experience and exposure to the many factors that contribute to our personal mental health and well-being. I've been fortunate to work with people in their homes, in the community, with their families as well as the private practice setting which have given me a much richer experience than just an of an office setting alone.

Over 15 years ago, I began my work as a licensed professional counselor. Since then, I’ve worked with diverse individuals and consistently seen that when people are empowered with the right information, they can often find the best solutions to their challenges. Using a range of evidence-based therapies, I guide purposeful conversations and reflection to support that process. I believe in discussing difficult topics with compassion and without judgment. Because you are the expert on your own life, collaboration is central to our work. Together, we develop practical and creative solutions, remain flexible as needs evolve, and build a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship focused on your goals. My experience includes four years working primarily with children and teenagers facing anxiety, mood concerns, relationship challenges, stress, and future planning. Prior to that, I worked in community mental health supporting clients ages 11 to 99 with a wide range of mental health concerns. I approach each client with respect for their resilience and capacity for growth. My role is to offer clarity, tools, and guidance as we work together to build confidence, develop strategies, and create meaningful progress toward your goals.

I come from a first responder family, and it shaped how I understand the people I work with. I built my practice specifically for law enforcement, fire, EMS, dispatchers/911, and veterans — people who carry things most providers have never had to sit with, let alone treat. I'm not interested in being another therapist who nods along without understanding the job. I get it, and that changes what happens in the room. Not all the work is about the job, either. Plenty of clients come to me for personal issues — relationship struggles, childhood stuff, grief, anxiety, things that have nothing to do with the badge or uniform. Being from this world just means I already understand the context you're operating in, whatever you're bringing to the room. I use evidence-based treatments — including EMDR, Brainspotting, and Prolonged Exposure, among others — to help clients process trauma that others may not fully understand. I also draw on Critical Incident Stress Management and Psychological First Aid for cumulative exposure, not just single-incident trauma. Whether it's an officer-involved shooting, years of runs finally catching up with someone, or something from long before the job started, I know how to work with it directly instead of dancing around it. My style is direct and less formal. I'm not going to make you explain your job to me or treat your coping mechanisms as automatically pathological. I'll call things what they are and won't waste your time with fluff. I work entirely via telehealth — meet with me from home, your vehicle between calls, wherever gives you privacy. If you want a therapist who won't flinch and actually understands the world you operate in, I'd like to work with you.

I believe therapy should be a place where you can bring your full self—your worries, questions, difficult experiences, and hopes for the future—without fear of judgment. My role is to offer a compassionate, collaborative space where you can slow down, feel heard, and begin making sense of what has been weighing on you. You do not have to have the right words or know exactly where to begin. We can start with what feels most important to you. My approach focuses on helping clients understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and past experiences. Together, we identify patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, feeling stuck, shame, emotional overwhelm, or difficulty trusting yourself. From there, we build practical, personalized tools that support emotional regulation, self-awareness, healthy boundaries, and meaningful change. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, trauma-related concerns, grief, relationship difficulties, emotional dysregulation, shame, and identity-related concerns. I understand that these experiences can feel isolating or exhausting. Therapy can offer space to explore them with honesty and care while developing skills that feel useful beyond the therapy room. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care. Depending on your needs and goals, our work may include noticing and challenging unhelpful thoughts, building distress-tolerance skills, practicing mindfulness, strengthening communication, or developing new ways to respond to difficult emotions. My hope is that therapy helps you feel more grounded, capable, and connected to yourself. I will meet you with curiosity, respect, and compassion as we work toward a life that feels safer, more manageable, and more aligned with your values. Whether you are beginning therapy or returning after a break, we will move at a pace that feels supportive, respectful, sustainable, and right for you each day.

Each person interprets the world through a lens shaped by experiences that are uniquely their own. My approach is integrative and solution-focused, drawing on evidence-based methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Existential Therapy — which explores the deeper questions of meaning and purpose in life. I partner with my clients to build a deeper understanding of their unique psychological makeup and to address the ways past experiences may still be affecting them today. Together, we don't just identify the challenges you face — we explore their roots and develop practical, personalized strategies to reduce their impact on your life and relationships.
