(she/her)
Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Michigan. I received my masters from Indiana University and have been practicing for 7 years. I primarily work with young adults and adults with mood disorders, anxiety, and challenges with adjusting to life changes. This is not an exhaustive list, so don't hesitate to reach out if you think you might be interested in therapy.
In our first session you can expect introductions, followed by exploring what issues you're facing and what you hope to get out of therapy. Together we'll develop a plan to address your concerns.
I take pride in listening to my clients and valuing your input - after all, you know yourself best.
I love working with clients who are feeling stuck in their day-to-day lives and are looking to make changes.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
This method is so widespread and for good reason. Challenging unhelpful thoughts, feelings, and behaviors is key, so we can work on changing your outlook and creating positive coping strategies.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
ACT is a method I'm quite fond of. It focuses on accepting things outside of your control and taking action in a way that aligns with your values.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
This method is related to CBT, but includes practicing meditation, awareness, and breathing exercises for example. Mindfulness can be applied to many situations regardless of location, which is why I use it.
Psychoeducation
Knowledge and understanding of your diagnosis and symptoms can be beneficial when developing coping techniques and approaching treatment. I think psychoeducation is valuable, the same way it's important to understand your physical health diagnoses.
