Hello, I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor based in the state of Michigan. I graduated from Spring Arbor University with a Masters degree in Counseling. My background consists of working with individuals age 7yrs old and older, family counseling, Severely Impaired disorders, Couples, PTSD, Anxiety and more. Analyzing individuals as a "whole" and not only their mental issues helps the appreciation of the therapy experience for all that engage in my sessions. I believe in asking about your mental and physical health since my teaching has allowed the understanding of medical health has a definite impact on the mental health. I have also worked as a Special Education Teacher for 7yrs prior to gaining a Counseling license. I definitely enjoy what I do for a living because I enjoy helping others.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will go over the main issue that led you to ask for assistance with managing a particular problem. We will also gain an understanding of how my sessions are ran, which is open dialog.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Since I have taught Special Education for 7yrs, worked with families for 10yrs, worked with Michigan hospitals for 5yrs, I have an extensive knowledge for all types of mental illness, triggers and coping skills to help many situations. It's also very unique that every client I have worked with has told me "Thank you for being the 1st Counselor that actually listened to them instead of over talking."

My treatment methods

Child Parent Psychotherapy

When working with the Parent and child, it is very important to allow both individuals to express their feelings and understanding of the home. There are expectations on both sides of the family dynamic and these are explored weekly or bi-weekly, depending on how upsetting the home is.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Applying Positive thoughts before action is always the goal of a more positive outlook in life. This Therapeutic process is essential with the individual that is dealing with negatively making poor decisions in life and not getting a positive impact on their lives, but can never understand why. My "Positive thoughts bring better benefits and behaviors" management plans will help the individual long term.

Compassion Focused

When an individual is not feeling compassionate, they are taught how to become more of a listener and become a better communicator.

Couples Counseling

Hearing both sides separately initially. Then, working with togetherness as the focus.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Show the individual different ways to use their form of communication in the most effective and nicest way. Working with the individual on how to be "Mindful" when speaking with another person .
